I'm not ready to go electric, and I'm not pushing for it here. I'm too far out in the boonies right now to expect to find convenient power stations, but this unknown company, Kinder Motor Works, has caught my attention with it's replicas. The 1953 Chevy 1/2 ton pickup caught my eye. But even a gas model would get my attention. They must have gotten permission from Ford, Chevy, and Volkswagon to design these. Not sure how that would work.

$225,000 for a "VW" van?
I think not! 🤣
I do like that Chevy pickup, though.

Ehh, I'd buy it with the original six, if they didn't go for stupid money these days. I went and looked at a '69 Chevy one ton truck a couple of weeks ago. Cool truck. It had so much rust that I walked away, but I know guys who can clean that all up. I'm not one of them. I can, and have, bought rust-free hulks out of the California desert and made them into drivable vehicles. I'll scrounge around for a pic of the '56 Chevy wagon I dragged back and fixed up. I painted it, had it completely upholstered, put in air conditioning, etc. But the wife got tired of it and I sold it. 😵💫 it would be worth 20X what I sold it for, today. I have a list of automobiles that I shoulda kept. 🤷♂️

When I was in Montana in the late 70s, I had a '49 Chevy pickup, and it was very reliable. When the temperature was -20° F.,it would start right up in the morning. My boss had a newish Ford F150, and he had to use an engine heater every night in the winter! 🤣

My dad lived in rural Minnesota, growing up. He told me a story about his dad lighting a pile of straw on fire under the oil pan on his vehicle before hand-cranking the engine over, so that the oil would get to the parts needing it sooner. I spent two winters in Idaho, with sub-zero weather. No FUCKING way I'd live in that climate again. Of course, automotive electrics are orders of magnitude better now. Still...no.

There's a bunch of bigots who REALLY hate gay people and ethnic minorities. More than they want their own lives to improve.

In 1966, my roommate in college in Billings, had a 53 Chevy sedan. It was probably the same engine that was in that year's pickup. It gets brutally cold in Billings, so he would put a blanket over the engine every night, and his car would start in the morning.

Meanwhile my 54 Buick 8 cylinder didn't do as well. That was the beginning of Winter Quarter. I parked my car in the administration parking lot to register for classes, which took a couple of hours, and the car was dead when I got back to it. It sat there for a month until the cold spell moderated.

During the summer, the people that took me in, had a 53 Chevy Pickup on their ranch that they let me drive, and we were always carrying loads of hay, dirt, and other farm stuff. Course that was summer, and I don't know how it held up to the winters.

When I worked in Maine, friends of mine went winter camping on a lark. They were way back in the woods and the car wouldn't start. They jacked it up and fired up their Coleman stove under the oil pan, and the car started.

But when it's brutal cold, electric vehicles have their own problems. They may start, but still not have enough power to get you to a charging station. There's more work to do with EV that just coming up with interesting body styles. But still, a little creativity doesn't hurt.

I had a 1951 F-100 that ran on dino doo-doo, I think.
We 'new atheists' have a reputation for being militant, but make no mistake  we didn't start this war. If you want to place blame put it on the the religious zealots who have been poisoning the minds of the  young for a long long time."

Sabine Hossenfelder says that if you buy an electric vehicle in Germany you should also buy a dog, so you won't have to walk home alone! 🤣
