"I hope they are reflecting now"!? They don't reflect, They just double down!

The news is like a fever dream happening when you are awake. Fortunately, I can afford to have a near zero number of real-life interactions with religious/conservatives even though my local area is ultra-fascist.

There's the old boomer at the dr's office waiting room, listening to state media on their loud phone. Trying hard to make eye contact so as to complain about communists, Mexicans or "The Clintons", LOL. There's that pick-up truck in your lane with 20 asinine bumper stickers. The is the ex-band member/roofer who was an anti-vax Trumper getting cheap health insurance (I even set him up) from Obamacare. He voted himself out of health insurance before he scheduled his hip replacement. Awe. I am sure he will enjoy whatever scraps are left for those who didn't save for retirement and can no longer work.

Contrary to popular belief, the racist South won the war.

Wow! I don't recall approval ratings anything like that for any president. Can this be real? The Economist is a pretty good publication. But this doesn't reflect the most recent approval ratings where he still does fairly well with Republicans. I don't know how recent my ratings were, however.

I believe these are net changes since he took office. So downward trend in most states.

Someone in a comment on YouTube said that Abraham Lincoln said that watching Melania's travesty of a movie was the worst experience he'd ever had in a theater.

Yes.  He's been underwater since March and less than his first term by August.  His brand is toxic AF and it's only his personal fanclub and the fair and balanced media that give the illusion that this is normal or sane or popular.  I mean, you have to be doing some really special stuff for the public to think that a sitting Republican president is bad for the economy.  I think most of us are finally getting the memo that this guy is demented and he's planning on creating violence in the streets and/or abroad until the day he dies - and that's not just a Democrat problem, that's an everyone problem.

I don't follow his behavior with enthusiasm. I read headlines, and I get email with enough messages in the heading to frighten me to death. I do understand that he is worried about midterm elections, but he has weathered this in the past. I did know that his approval is at it's lowest point. But minus numbers? Maybe I don't understand minus numbers.

I'm not even sure how much of the damage he has done will ever be repaired. America has changed. Even without Trump, I see a different America today, and not in small differences, but in major differences. Democracy is crumbling and creating a vacuum. We have no way of knowing what follows. The separation of powers is already just a philosophical ideal. The job of congress is now relegated to staying out of the president's way. And the courts have no power without the support of congress. We are in a constitutional crisis, and not enough will to end the crisis.

He just raided Georgia's elections office in Fulton County.  So, that's a giant hint as to how he plans to "win" the midterms.  And of course, he tried to "find" votes in Georgia in 2020.  What a coincidence.

Also, the post office changed things so that mail is dated when it's processed (hours or sometimes a few days later) as opposed to when it was received, which has some serious implications for mail-in-voting, Trump's personal bugbear (though, it didn't seem to stop him from using it himself)

Sane people had better vote early and not sit out any elections and get all their friends to vote as well because this stuff is a clear and present danger to democracy in America and nothing is going to change unless spineless politicians who cater to demented/dangerous Dictator Donnie get thrown out.

Minus numbers = more people disapprove than approve.
