Can you guys come back to work?  Don't worry, we'll fire you again.

QuoteA Dec. 5 email obtained by USA TODAY shows the agency ordered a significant portion of staffers in the Office for Civil Rights to come back later this month. In the "return to duty" directive, officials acknowledged they're facing a sizable caseload of civil rights complaints
Gee, I wonder why.

Quoteand they underscored a need to utilize every resource at the government's disposal to work through them.
Shoulda thought about that BEFORE laying people off.  You can't fry the chicken then decide that you want eggs.

Yeah, I saw this. I hope they can't get anybody back. Why would anyone want to go back?
What a clusterfuck!

Yeah, that'd be great.

Did you guys know that if you buy 5 pizzas, they give you a peace prize for free?  Crazy!  (Seriously, this is crazy)  What?  No of course they put it on you.  I'm not going to put a BOGO pizza prize around my own neck like some sort of weirdo.  Can you imagine?!  Ha!

Welp, so glad my tax money goes to Trump's soybean farmer/socialists after the idiot inflates the prices that we pay with his tariffs. Those commodity markets are probably gone for good with China actually developing farmland in South America now. We get to support farmers forever, I guess because they can't find cheap workers anymore, LOL. These farmers and small businesses have had illegals paying into the Social Security system (money that they will never get back). Undocumented workers in the U.S. paid an estimated $25.7 billion into Social Security taxes in 2022 alone. That means less than 100 more full-sized social security checks until the checks get cut around 23%. Remember when old people used to eat dog food?

Farmers: "I can't believe Trump would betray us like this! I'm gonna lose my farm as a direct result of his decisions! I'll still vote for him for his third term, though."

Vainly begot, and yet forbidden vanity,

Wow, I've just been informed that Trump is cutting the funding for my housing. So in May I'll be on the street again, unless something can be worked out for different housing. The program I've been lucky enough to be a part of is doing all they can to help, but I don't know what will happen.

So sorry to hear that. Was a big fear of mine as a kid when the family fell apart. Somehow nothing is surprising anymore, here in the richest country. I'd probably play piano on a cruise ship for the free cabin, or something like that.

Nobody

Well, it's scary, but there's several months before I'm outa here, so maybe something will get worked out. My housing people tell me they'll do everything they can to keep me from becoming homeless again, so for now I'm not gonna worry about it.

QuoteTrump says he's "crushing" inflation as GOP faces affordability concerns

This after insisting for weeks that inflation is a Democratic Hoax. I do my own shopping and I've been aware of inflation all this year. It's not a hoax, and it is worrisome. And it seems to be gaining strength. "Crushing inflation" is a joke and in very poor taste. And with tariffs and lower borrowing rates, it's going to get worse.

QuoteUS threatens new ICC sanctions unless court pledges not to prosecute Trump

WASHINGTON, Dec 10 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump's administration wants the International Criminal Court to amend its founding documents to ensure it does not investigate the Republican president and his top officials, a Trump administration official said, threatening new U.S. sanctions if it did not.

If the court does not act on this U.S. demand and two others - dropping investigations of Israeli leaders over the Gaza war and formally ending an earlier probe of U.S. troops over their actions in Afghanistan  - Washington may penalize more ICC officials and could sanction the court itself, the official said.

So, will the ICC give in to Trump's demands, or will it stand firm and uphold its raison d'etre?

Why would Trump be worried about prosecution?  He's not doing anything illegal, right?

Going back to his first term, he was already questioning whether a president could pardon himself. To my recollection, I don't know if that was ever decided by anyone other than Trump himself.

Blackleaf

That would be an obvious abuse of power. Not that anyone's been stopping Trump from abusing his power all year...
