Abbott says he'll "tariff" people moving from NYC to Texas, as if living in Texas wasn't bad enough.

(Republicans sure hate taxes but LOVE tariffs.  I wonder when they'll finally figure it out...?)

They've already figured it out, that's why they're calling them "tariffs" instead of "taxes", because their base is STUPID.

Mamdani wins

In retrospect, it was kinda obvious.  And Trump's repeated red-faced threats and limp endorsement of disgraced former mayor Cuomo appear to have backfired, if they had any effect at all.

The demonization - when it was coherent, and the Muslim-Marxist-Socialist-Elitist persona wasn't very coherent - appears only to have spread awareness of his agenda, an agenda that struck a chord with Americans worried about the GOP-caused cost-of-living crisis.

And since we're in the "Let Them Eat Cake" part of the inglorious Trump Regime, that agenda is a hill Americans are willing to stand on, regardless of race-baiting attacks and worn-out "socialist" demonization.

Trump yelled and stomped his feet and tried to dictate this election and the American people told him off.  Expect to see a lot more of that in the future.

Still a long fight, but a damn good first round punch in the face.

Not just in NYC, but Democrats also won in Virginia and New Jersey.  They also passed Prop 50 (aka the Election Rigging Response Act) in California.

And these weren't tight races - Mamadani beat Trump-backed Cuomo by almost 10 points.  Mikie Sherrill beat some Trump-endorsed guy I've already forgot his name by 13 points.  Abigail Spanberger beat Earle-Sears by 14 points.  And Prop 50 was projected to win very early on and right now has about 2/3 of the votes.

("Fun" fact - Earle-Sears, Virginia's first female and/or black lieutenant governor who years later went on record to say that she's opposes DEI.  It's shocking that DEI-opposed Republicans didn't come out in droves to vote for someone who once was a diversity trailblazer)

In the wake of this election upset, I look forward to hearing from election strategists that future Republican candidates should move more to the left, abandoning the more radical policy positions and instead promoting enlightened centrist policies that more broadly appeal to---

BWUAHAHAHA!!

Oh man, I couldn't do it.  Could you imagine???  Nah, voter suppression, gerrymandering, election denialism (heads, I win, tails, you cheated) and possibly even violence if they don't get their way.  And if they do all that and squeak out a win, they'll call it a mandate and do whatever batshit stuff they always wanted to do but kept somewhat hush-hush before.

A democratic blue wave is encouraging, even though it seems like closing the barn door after the horse ran away. Trump has done a lot of damage in less than one year, and he's got three more years to continue his  personal vengeance on a system that is now almost broken.

Our country has lost a lot of credibility with the rest of the west. I feel lucky we haven't been thrown out of NATO on our ass. If I were another civilized country, I would be doubtful about America's long term reliability. One Blue wave wouldn't signal that our self serving drift to care for our wealthy before more important issues is a long term change of direction. And with lower interest rates and higher tarriffs, my guess is we will be seeing a re-awakening of post COVID inflation that was almost under control a year ago.

Democrats have never been fast at fixing things. I don't disagree with their efforts to support diversity and identity politics, but for years we have been drifting toward oligarchy and lately a fascist viewpoint that has not been seriously addressed. These are bigger problems for all of us, black, white, gay, straight, female, male, poor, or just surviving. I don't think we will see fast work in repairing Trump's damage to America unless Democratic leaders start listening to the middle and lower classes and look at the much bigger picture. Democrats need more than just not being Trump. That may have helped this election, but we need more than "just not Trump." They don't need to throw out what they have been doing, but they need to pay attention to the big picture.

The correct answer was "42".

I was wondering the same thing:

Quote"The entire process, in particular the Voting itself, is RIGGED," Mr. Trump declared without citing anything to support the claim. He suggested that Republicans were somehow "shut out" of mail-in voting, warning that a "serious legal and criminal review" was on the way. Mr. Trump has long railed against mail-in voting, but it was not clear what he meant by a review.

SGOS

I voted early, but not by mail, so I guess I'm not under "serious legal and criminal" review. WHEW!

Gawdzilla Sama

If you surround yourself with sycophants it won't be long before all you hear is your own words. Toadies are like that. T.rump expects the whole country and whole world to continue that obsequious shit.

Yeah, he rails against voting by mail while himself votes by mail.
