Those Democrats who caved are trying to spin it as a success. But what they did was give Republicans what they wanted in the first place, and are getting what in the bargain? Nothing, except the right to negotiate on health care, which they had at the beginning. This is a Republican win, but it was an inevitable winner take all (and then a little bit more in bargain). The Big Beautiful Bill survives, and then some.

Republicans have made a habit of this. When they don't get what they want, they shut down the government and blame the Democrats. They are not getting called out nearly enough for this shit.

It's back to the old Democrat strategy of moving to the right as a political strategy to push the Republicans off the cliff. But we need more from Democrats than just,"I'm not them." There are actual issues at stake that affect the unwealthy. Had these assholes defected before the election, there would have been no blue wave, and now the wave is gone as more and more progressives have had the rug pulled out from under them and become disenfranchised once again. Democratic leadership seems to be nothing more than a front to create an image of democracy in an oligarchy.

I agree. I expect frauds and billionaires (what's the difference), white nationalists and Nazis to support fascism, but what exactly did ordinary people find attractive about Trump? Oh, he's so likeable! HOW??? He has no charisma, no tact, no talents. Is it because he's fun to laugh at? Most Germans didn't know they were about to become notorious Nazis when they voted to end their democracy by electing a dictator. Fear/greed turns people stupid. All it takes is confident scammer.

It's like when those ladies get scam emails and actually believe George Clooney is in love with them and just needs a $50K loan so he can get out of a pickle so he can come see them. So many people are that easy to fool. I heard a farmer talk about how he is losing his farm because of Trump tariffs but says "I still support Trump. I know he cares about America and I'm sure he knows what he is doing". Pure stupidity-fooled again.
