It seems to me Trump holds all the cards in the government shutdown war. If Democrats compromise on the bill, I think he's still going to fire more government employees. I believe he was going to do that anyway, but now he thinks he can blame the firing on Democrats. Maybe he can. I don't have much faith in the public, anymore.

As is commonplace in the Trump regime, he gave them a take-it-or-leave-it ultimatum and everyone refused to bow down except America One, which is a fake news network, so that hardly matters.

JD "Couched" Vance - who encouraged conservatives to get people fired if they weren't sufficiently mournful of Charlie Kirk - said they shouldn't have their "lives ruined" just because they praised Hitler, made racist comments, and called for genocide.  He suggested that they were just "kids" and "kids just say stupid stuff" and asked people to focus on the real issues.

1) That dude on the right is 35.  That's not a child lol.  I think it's safe to say that when you have a mortgage, you're no longer a kid.  And lots of these people are elected officials or staffers of elected officials.  A 12-year-old gets raped and they say she's mature enough to be a mom now but a 35-year-old does the Musk salute and we're supposed to think it's just kid stuff and sweep it under the rug?  Why?  Because they're conservatives.  Rules for thee, not for me.

2) "Kids" in their late 20s and 30s don't just spontaneously say hate-filled racist and nazi stuff - that's not something that just happens for no reason.  They were either raised by nazi-friendly social media and assorted "personalities" who instill these sorts of "values" or real pieces of crap parents.  Not to mention a whole culture that encourages and makes excuses for this sort of behavior.  Vance is exhibit A.

3) Ok, real issues: How come nazis keep infiltrating our government and pretty much entirely from a single political party?  Don't you think the people who naively voted for them should know their real positions?  How many Americans died from Trump's refusal to deal with covid in an adult way and instead promoted vaccine denialism and fake medicine?  How many Americans will die from Trump's attempt to double the health insurance costs of millions of Americans?  How are ballooning tariffs helping American consumers who ultimately pay the costs associated with high tariffs?  Isn't this actually a tax hike?  How does sending goons to terrorize people in various American cities - cities that just happen to be blue-leaning - help Americans?  Will "peace-loving" Trump lead us into a disastrous war in a desperate attempt to boost his poll numbers?  Will Trump rig the 2026 election?  When will this lawless regime come to an end?

DUI ICE goon tries to weasel out of lawful arrest

42-year-old Scott Deiseroth is the ICE agent in question. He had a blood-alcohol level of .17 when he decided to drive his pickup truck with his two kids in the back. Deiseroth was arrested, but not without resistance, as he tried to play all his cards to avoid the arrest, such as racially profiling a Black cop, using his position as a "law enforcement officer," and even trying to elicit empathy by claiming he's going through a divorce.

No idea why someone would want to divorce a modern-day gestapo.

Needless to say, the bodycam footage of Deiseroth's arrest quickly went viral, with many people online mocking his predicament and perhaps his sense of entitlement. One of the commenters on the video where the footage was uploaded even pointed out the irony, "'I just wanna go home guys. 'Don't separate me from my family.' These phrases are golden coming from an ICE agent."

"Dude behaves just like you'd expect an ICE 'agent' to behave," according to another commenter. Meanwhile, other people appear to be celebrating how an ICE agent was finally subjected to the wrong end of law enforcement, "An ice agent scared to get in a police car and be held accountable."

Can you imagine the pain caused by separating people from their families??

Yeah, and the guy didn't have any kind of ID with him. So how can anyone be sure he's an ICE agent? Just because he said so?
Does anyone believe that driving while intoxicated is just fine as long as you claim to be a federal agent!?
