Google Calendar has removed references to months celebrating and honoring African Americans, women and LGBTQ+ communities because keeping the events wasn't "sustainable".

The tech giant previously marked the start of Black History Month in February and Pride Month in June but the events don't appear for 2025.

The company has also removed references to Women's History Month in March and Indigenous Peoples Month in November among other observances.

The official rationale is that adding cultural holidays got too cumbersome, scope creep with hundreds of countries each with holidays of their own, it was apparently too difficult to just manually type those in and have them automatically appear every year.  If that's the case, the timing is certainly suspect.

Pursuing a deliberate error is and seeing if other people will go along with it is a fantastic way to test the loyalties of those around you - those who play ball are under your influence and those who stubbornly insist on the correct terminology are not under your influence and you may proceed from there with repercussions.

It's so easy to label people these days. From the way folks have been talking, you'd think everyone falls into two buckets: those who voted against the mayor who promised to blow up the city and those who voted for the mayor who promised to blow up the city. And now that the mayor, whom I voted for, is blowing up the city, as he promised, I'm one of many people who are being unfairly blamed for something I didn't want. Okay? I didn't want the mayor to blow up the city like he mentioned many times; I just wanted him to fix the old bowling alley like he promised in passing once. Anyone saying I'm partially responsible for the explosions is just a sign that they have no argument.

On Friday, while waiting to start my cardiac rehab session, one of the people behind the desk said they were going to be closed on Monday because of the holiday. I asked one of the guys waiting with me what holiday it was, and he said it would be president's day. So I looked at him and said "oh, we have a wonderful president now!"
He gave me an odd look, but a lady in a chair behind me and to the side, whom I could see with my peripheral vision, looked at me with total disdain, as if I was completely insane! So I couldn't help but to laugh out loud, something I very seldom do in public. 🤣
