I recently had an epiphany on this.

I used to work telephone customer service for a cell phone company in the early 2000's. Horrible job. One call I got was a teenaged girl who'd ran up a $1000 texting bill. Chances are they wound up taking a partial amount on that bill, which was still more than the monthly charge.

Cryptocurrency has already cratered and A.I. is currently losing billions of dollars a year because these new tech things do not make money and have no way to fleece early adopters the way successful tech did, like cell phones.

We 'new atheists' have a reputation for being militant, but make no mistake  we didn't start this war. If you want to place blame put it on the the religious zealots who have been poisoning the minds of the  young for a long long time."

AI has a lot of legitimate applications, but art is not one of them. We've invested over a trillion dollars into shitty image generators and unreliable Google alternatives. Elon's robots STILL rely on unseen, human pilots, because they can't be trusted not to embarrass Elon and make all his investors think all their money has been wasted on junk nobody needs. AI has eroded our trust, as artists have to prove they actually made what they made, and tools like Sora make misinformation easier to spread than ever.

Born under one law, to another bound;
Vainly begot, and yet forbidden vanity,
Created sick, commanded to be sound."

I was unaware that some people thought the Forbin Project was a current reality.
