It's similar to how people who get sucked into pyramid schemes always say "it's not a pyramid scheme," before proceeding to precisely describe it by the literal definition of a pyramid scheme. The truth is obvious to everyone but them.

Trump is one of the most successful conmen. Yet I don't want to give him too much credit, because his success is not based on persuasive skills, intelligence, or effort. He's a complete idiot, and he speaks like a complete idiot. Before, he simply rode on the reputation of his name. Then he just became a Republican. And as we are all well aware now, Republicans will vote for anyone, as long as they've got that R beside their name. But he's become more than that now. He's the unofficial cult leader of the party. How did he manage that? Why did Republicans choose him, of all people, to be their Messiah? Who the fuck even knows? It makes no sense.
