Misconceptions Christians Spread About Their Own Faith

Christians have a lot of misconceptions surrounding their own faith. These are self-serving myths, spread in an attempt to give their claims more credibility. For example, here are four common misconceptions about the New Testament.

To summarize:

1. The Gospels were not written by the apostles of Jesus. The apostles were mostly lower-income, illiterate, Aramaic speakers. The Gospels were written in Greek by literate, and likely wealthy Christians well after the apostles were all dead.

2. Early Christians were not unified, with the religion diversifying as the original faith got corrupted over time. In fact, the opposite is true. Early Christianity had WAY more variation than what exists today, with many not even being monotheists.

3. The current Christian canon was not taken for granted before it was officially declared. Books that are currently not considered canonical were frequently used, such as the Gospel of Peter.

4. It is laughably wrong that there was not enough time for legends to develop around Jesus' backstory.
"Oh, wearisome condition of humanity,
Born under one law, to another bound;
Vainly begot, and yet forbidden vanity,
Created sick, commanded to be sound."

One of the biggest misconceptions I run across with christians and the bible is that most believe the bible more or less was issued from god, written all about the same time and sort of plopped to earth complete and error free. They know nothing (and apparently don't care) about the 300+ years the bible was being developed. And that there is only one true bible, not the dozens (hundreds??) of different versions that exist.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent,
Is he able but not willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able or willing?
Then why call him god?

Nicely done.

Before that corruption of Christianity to supernatural belief, thigs were so much better.

I hope you can see how intelligent the ancients were as compared to the mental efforts that modern preachers and theists are using with the literal reading of myths.

Further.

Rabbi Hillel, the older contemporary of Jesus, said that when asked to sum up the whole of Jewish teaching, while he stood on one leg, said, "The Golden Rule. That which is hateful to you, do not do to your neighbor. That is the Torah. And everything else is only commentary. Now, go and study it."

Please listen as to what is said about the literal reading of myths.

"Origen, the great second or third century Greek commentator on the Bible said that it is absolutely impossible to take these texts literally. You simply cannot do so. And he said, "God has put these sort of conundrums and paradoxes in so that we are forced to seek a deeper meaning."

Matt 7;12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

This is how early Gnostic Christians view the transition from reading myths properly to destructive literal reading and idol worship.
