of the the worst.  What a surprise!!

U.S. health care system ranks last among 11 wealthy countries, report finds.

https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/us-trails-behind-other-countries-in-health-care-145243663.html

We are the best at fucking up and fucking our society!  The wealthiest country in the history of this planet and we offer only the worst medical care.  But we are good at it.  At least the article suggests countries it would be best to move to--30/40 years ago I would have seriously considered such a move.

But... But... we have Obamacare.

I am OK with Obama's ACA. I pay less than 100 a month for a subsidized 'silver plan' that is engineered to pay over 70% my healthcare expenses. My income is just high enough so that I avoid Medicaid but get a big tax credit for my insurance. It is a dance I can play because my expenses are low and my real income is deferred in a retirement account.

Obama Care--it would have been a hell of a lot better if the turtle did not fuck it up every step of the way!!

Hmm... I'm confused though. These are vastly different operations, aren't they. For example, as far as I know, Swiss healthcare is not funded by anything, but citizens contribute to it by themselves and it is the best universal healthcare exists on the planet. Also, the population difference, lol. I'll give you France and Germany, they are like us bordering 90 million? But others have the population of the city I live in ffs. What's yours? 310? 320? In 50 countries?

I'm not saying it is not bad. Yeah, it is bad. I'm saying the conditions are very different.

Compared to other wealthy countries, our healthcare is bad, both in the execution and the way it is funded.  Obamacare's biggest success was selling us a system that would retard the long sought development of universal single payer insurance.  And contrary to the propaganda that it was a "first step toward good healthcare," it has managed to retard progress for going on 20 years, while adding to the wealth of greedy insurers.  Today, universal healthcare is still nowhere in sight, and there is not a single benefit to most Americans paying into Obamacare. Democrats promoted universal health care, and gave us Obamacare.  It was a classic bait and switch.  And now we are at the bottom of the best healthcare list.

Half of Americans won't even get the goddamn vax to end a pandemic. They are so anti government. hard to imagine them ever wanting socialist 'govment' insurance. We are dealing with millions and millions of piss ant morons. Even Obamacare is in danger at this point.

OK. Well, then that's not the list you should be looking at. According to the WHO report, the USA rates 37th in the healthcare list in the world. (I think that was shared here before the pandemic with similar results for everyone.) While this one looks like giving a critical look, the big picture actually looks different and I suspect lists of that sort manipulates how everyone evaluate things. (When I first looked at it, I was like where is Finland?) It says Commonwealth Fund, yes I get it, it is specific 'club' but obviously this is not really about high income at some point and this stuff is manipulative at best. Or I'm missing something. For example, Chile, Cyprus, Morocco, Sultanate of Oman, Colombia, Greece have better healthcare than the US. the UK ranks 18. But yes, considering your country's wealth and power, it is AWFUL. Having said all that, I was surprised we even made the 100 list. But I know the situation of where I live. Do you get what I mean?

When I was in London, I was feeding a squirrel. (We don't have those because people killed everything like hundreds years ago. One of the reasons why stray cats and dogs taken care of in an unbalanced, freaky way at some places, and also why I have a thing for them.) Anyway, she bit me. She bit me accidentally, very slowly and politely because she didn't get what I was doing. LOL I already had a tetanus shot, but as the people were like 'OMG'', I said OK, let's go and get a fresh shot? they were like "No, No you have no idea what is it like here!". I was like "OK, calm down." The thing is, as it is an emergency kind of thing, if the same thing happened where I live, the tourist would just need to get to a clinic and get it free just like that free of charge. And my country ranks 70 in that list. You get what I mean? Universal Healthcare?

E: (I say 'you get what I mean' in an honest way, it is not sarcasm, lol. This kind of 'information' gets on my nerves. I have just taken it the other way -positive end- around in my first response because those countries are not comparable at all.)

Recent articles I've read, don't exclude political identification from the anti-vaccination crisis, but I have a hard time believing that vaccinations and healthcare are not at least 90% political, with being for or against mostly driven by political affiliation and propaganda rather than reason.  My conservative cousin believes that Canadians were flooding US medical facilities because their own medical system is such a failure.  I don't think he ever talked to a Canadian about this, but he got this idea from somewhere.
