Why is Alaska yellow?  What's the population density?

Largest state (bigger than Texas), low population (less than a million) and it is cold there.  Notice the hot zones now, are in hotter climes.

Business interests controlled states' reopening plans

QuoteThousands of pages of emails provided to The Associated Press under open-records laws show that governors across the U.S. were inundated with reopening advice from a wide range of industries â€" from campgrounds in New Hampshire to car washes in Washington. Some governors put economic interests ahead of public health guidance, and certain businesses were allowed to write the rules that would govern their own operations.

If you were wondering why wrestling was deemed an essential business in Florida, bars prematurely opened in Texas, and casinos prematurely opened in Nevada - it was never based on logic or expert opinion, it was entirely due to these businesses pressuring state government to operate in a way that suits them, the first and only consideration.  And if some people have to die to improve the bottom line, then so be it.

As a state, the place is huge, and it's possibly the lowest density on the whole planet, or something like the Australian Outback, or Siberia.   There are places where people live in close proximity to each other and Anchorage is rather big, but there are many communities in the Alaskan Bush that redefine the meaning of isolation.  I've been in some of them.  They create a feeling like there is no way in or out, and people don't leave, because there is no place to go.  Many are only accessible by bush plane, or boat.  It's not the kind of layout that pandemics thrive in.

Low overall but very high in certain places.  The continental USA is much the same:

Viruses depend on both how dense a population is and how dense a population is.

Florida man who thought covid was a hoax loses wife to covid

QuoteHer husband explained that the couple did not follow health guidance at the start of the pandemic because of the false claims they had seen online.

Brian continued to work as a taxi driver and to collect his wife's medicine without observing social distancing rules or wearing a mask.

They had also failed to seek help as soon as possible when they fell ill in May and were both subsequently diagnosed with Covid-19.

Yeah, I was following that story. Turns out his wife was a "reverand" as she spells it. Here is what she posted right before she got sick...

There is a major lack of faith Look what Jesus did when it was back in the biblical days he dealt with Leprosy he dealt with a lot more sicknesses that were worse than that. He had Faith people had Faith look at the woman who had the issue of blood she was healed. The reason why God is letting this happen is because he's trying to get us to come back to our faith remember it's in the Bible walk by faith not by sight which means walked by your faith and not of sight which means the world's
ways

I wish psychosomatic cures worked all the time.  Most people on Earth can't afford AMA treatments and never will.  Even the US can't afford 100% health coverage for all conditions for all people … but could afford partial health coverage for most healthy people (some people are really sick).

So how much of your income/assets will you sacrifice for your neighbor?  I have no health insurance for more than a year.  A good friend is helping me move.  His health is covered because he is native American.  My daughter's health is covered because her diagnosis is covered thru Medicare.  But those are minority examples, I am not a minority.  If you want more people covered, how great a percentage of your income/assets are you willing to hand over?  Just printing money doesn't count as coverage.

Insurance doesn't count as coverage because that is really just paying insurance companies, not doctors. Life insurance works, because not everyone dies at once, and you can only make one claim one time, if you really are dead.  That doesn't work with sick people.  So cut out the insurance scams and just pay the doctor.  But still, that doesn't make it cheap, just not as expensive.  So do a "go fund me" for your neighbor, and I will believe you are compassionate, not just a grifter.  And no, I am not asking for your money.
