Things like the maga hats or the yellow jacket movement exists because when peoples national identity is  threatened by their own government, people can't take that shit anymore.

Only 18-28 year olds can be the counter-culture, us elders are only fit for the glue factory.  Except a little bird tells me, there are now people in that age group speaking against all the Left lunacy.  This happened 1965-1975 ... back then I spoke against the Left lunacy.  We actually had a pro-Vietnam War protest on our campus.  But then we were STEM, not underwater basket weaving.

What you mean is when people "feel" their national identity is threatened. The thing is, American identity is not at threat... ironically the closest is the party of MAGA that has been consistently stripping away American rights for decades now and making it where "Americans" are only the super rich.

Do you think African Americans don't feel their identity is threatened when Republicans pass voter restriction laws that overwhelmingly target their communities? That Latino Americans don't feel their identity is threatened when Republicans ignore the DREAM Act and begin harassing people who have lived here since they were children and only know America, threatening them with deportation? Do you think women in America don't feel their identity is threatened when they have a president who openly brags about sexual harassment and is part of a party that constantly fights to strip them of their right to their body and access to affordable healthcare? Do you think Muslim and Jewish Americans, who have seen increasing acts of violence against them since the "MAGA" movement, don't feel their identity is threatened? Do you think the LGBT+ community don't feel their identity is at risk when they are constantly fighting for equal rights and yet see Republicans strip them of basic human dignities like the right to get married?

You can swoon over the "populist" movement all you want, but the simple truth is it is only a populist movement if you are a white, straight and Christian. These are people who believe their "national identity" is at threat if anyone else is allowed to have the same rights they do.

That is what you are defending. That is what "MAGA" stands for. It is literally shit I have seen called out time, and time, and time again on this forum (the persecutors feeling persecuted) and I would wager money you have nodded your head and agreed just how stupid that was back then... but now that they share some of the same political views, suddenly you view them as the "good guys".

And you do that all while bemoaning that it's everyone else who is so partisan, so stuck in their ways. You are so stuck in your little feedback loop with your clique that you don't realise just how much everything you keep accusing everyone else of being is exactly the behaviour you exhibit.
