I don't know about deliberately, but they don't seem to mind taking steps in that direction.

And don't forget the infamous quote from Dubya: " If this were a dictatorship, it'd be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator."  It's a line of thinking that's clearly embedded in the modern party -- and no, Baruch, unless you can come up with a modern American Democratic president saying essentially the same thing, you may not claim that it's both parties and they're all the same like you always do.

Dubya didn't screw interns.  He at least was a gentleman, stupid ... but a gentleman.

President Trump will instruct federal agencies on Monday to assemble a budget for the coming fiscal year that would include sharp increases in Defense Department spending; major cuts to other agencies, including the Environmental Protection Agency; and no reductions to the largest entitlement programs, Social Security and Medicare, according to four senior administration officials.
The outline, drafted by Office of Management and Budget director, Mick Mulvaney, is the first volley to the federal agencies.

I always find it odd that Republicans are so eager to cut federal spending but also so gung ho on feeding the military-industrial war machine.   Do they actually want a lean government?  Cause the words and actions aren't lining up.

It never has.  That's kind of the whole point.  Republicans always promise their base everything, then fuck them over as soon as they have the chance.

George Dumbass Bush swore that he was going to be the "pro-life" (HAH!  Look at his record on the death penalty and try that line again!) president, and did fuck-all for the Talebangelicals even when he had a GOP House and Senate both.  The closest he got was coming down on stem cell research.  He never did anything more than piss and moan about abortions, and trim funding at the edges.  He made no serious effort to do anything about Roe v WadeEven the wingnuts have actually noticed that little fact.

So yeah.  Words and actions have traditionally been two completely different things to Republicans.  Democrats aren't guiltless here, but they haven't been so blatantly and vastly hypocritical as the GOP.

Republicans always lie.  So who knows what they want, when the claim some policy direction.  And yes, similar yet different the Democrats are.  It is all smoke filled rooms of plutocrats, all the way down.

Yep, looks ugly.  Right butt cheek or Left butt cheek.  And don't think Republicans are pro DoD ... because they are actually anti-VA.  They like wars, but not the veterans it produces.  War profiteering.  Evil.

Tossing bones to the political dogs.  Shameless they are.  Like the Slave Party giving the African-Americans no choice but to vote for them (and the Lincoln party being maximally un-Lincoln).

Your politics is more interesting than your bigotry.  But the current crop of Millenial SJWs are a mess.  You would be a minority among a minority with your position.  Actually not too different from my own position ;-)

They are in favor of spending that supports their benefactors. This is what Ike warned us about.

You aren't making sense again. Pro-DoD doesn't mean pro-veteran. We're as discardable as the embryos they think so much of once they're born.

I prefer to produce fewer veterans, but my fellow Americans don't agree.  They love war, as long as it happens to someone else.  Evil.

His adult sons are spending taxpayer money on vacationing, but that's just fake news right?

I was thinking more or less the same thing.  Although I'll admit up front I would be biased towards the Wiccans, so I probably wouldn't be the best ref.
I think James Randi would be the guy; or maybe Penn & Teller.

War is evil, but Republicans love it because it generates money for the one percent.
