I happen to not believe in abortion for one thing but I wouldn't say some one having an abortion of a defective baby is hating retards. They are actually probably using an act of mercy. Mercy killing which I'm on the fence about.

I doubt if anyone looked back though the history of people with mental retardation and christianity that it would be a pretty picture, christians not being known for being that pleasant with such matters.

Edit: As for the issue of abortion if detecting certain problems which might lead to impaired mental development, just remember that millions of sperm cells are potential offspring, and only one wins. Also, while I would never look at anyone with a mental impairment as being less then a human being, I can fully understand why anyone would wish for their child to be healthy, strong, and capable of growing up having a normal life. Someone born with down syndrome or a generic disease, any parent would wish for their children to have a healthy life, instead of going though life in need of constant medical care and help.

Plenty of religious women have abortions. I volunteer as an abortion doula, and most of the women I've supported have held one faith or another. I recall one strongly Christian woman in the clinic who made my client cry, just because she was judging everyone else in the waiting room for being there. She was there to have a procedure as well, but no doubt she had a "special circumstance." So yes, lots of Christian women have abortions. I would say most women getting abortions in America are Christian, if you follow the statistics.

I don't hate retards, but I am very pro abortion. Abort them, I say to the parents. Make your lives far easier and don't put that burden on yourself. If my parents had wanted to abort me, that would have been just fine. I swear I wouldn't have minded. My parents could have been aborted by their parents, and they wouldn't have minded either. We need to see far more abortions taking place in this world.
