Another life?   After this one?

That sounds like a lot of effort.

If you get killed in the afterlife, where do you go?

It's afterlives all the way down...

There would definitely be a chocolate fountain.  And bacon.

I don't want an afterlife if I experience time on the same plane I currently do. I could say something like "sex, drugs, and rock n roll" would be a great way to spend eternity, but I imagine it would get old even after a century.

I can imagine conversations with friends and loved ones like:
"What do you want to do today?"
"Sex?"
"Ugh, we did that yesterday."
"Drugs then."
"I'm bored of drugs."
"I got some new heroin..."
"You always say that and it always ends up being the same old shit."
And so on...
How can you be sure my refusal to agree with your claim a symptom of my ignorance and not yours?

Actually, an afterlife would be horrible.  Imagine living for an eternity with all the jackasses of the past.  Sure, most agree you probably wouldn't spend it with the Hitler types, but what about the Gandhi types?  Venerated as a champion of peace and all-around good guy, he was a racist piece of shit.  Sure, OTHER THAN THE EXTREME RACISM I'm sure Gandhi was great.  But I really don't want to spend an eternity with the prick.  And even Christians have to use the "It was a different time" excuse when it comes to things like slavery.  You would spend an eternity with people who had owned slaves.  Hell, former SLAVES would spend an eternity with people who owned slaves.  How the hell would THAT work out?  I imagine it would be something along the lines of a prison yard with the different ethnic groups in their respective areas.

Eternity with those assholes?  No thank you.  I still think death is a good thing.

I thought about my dream world. I will have tons of friends. We will farm an organic permaculture. We will have vertical planters and  aquaponics. The cats will eat the fish, as the people will be vegetarians. We will be cooperative, kind, fun, creative, and flirty.

There will be some nice looking ladies.

My ideal afterlife would be a world surrounded by close friends, where everyone is immune from negative emotions. Everyone would be happy just to be with each other and have fun together.

But given the nature of the world we live in, I don't expect anything better could come after it. What good god wouldn't just put us in the perfect world to start with?

I've thought about what more likely possibilities might be for a life after death.

1. If a god exists, and it gave me an eternal soul, it made me for its entertainment, not my benefit. This would not likely change after death.

2. If Solipsism is true, as I've been tempted to believe for several years now, it's possible that I'm simply stuff in an infinite cycle in which I live every possible life in any possible universe. It could be better than my current life, or it could be worse.

3. If this world is all that there is, perhaps I could continue to float around outside of my body. Without a functioning brain, I'd likely lack any real ability to think or reason. I might just exist as pure emotion, reliving the moments of my last days as if I were still alive.

It's all speculation, of course, but I'm not an optimist when it comes to this.

Vainly begot, and yet forbidden vanity,

An afterlife would be endless wilderness and mountain trails, occasionally punctuated with uncrowded ski resorts.

I'm with Baruch.  I'm alive and have the ability to make things better or worse.  What more could I ask for?  Once you find the right mind set, you're good.

Right mind set is everything, otherwise you are out of your mind ;-(

I'm always closer than I've ever been since I'm always changing, hopefully, toward the benefit of life itself.
