Christian defeats Muslims in debates, Muslims murder him

NAIROBI, Kenya (Morning Star News) â€" Islamists upset by a Christian-Muslim debate are suspected in the killing of a long-time evangelist in eastern Uganda who led many Muslims to Christ, sources said.

The mutilated body of Samson Nfunyeku was found close to his home in Kalampete village, Kibuku District early on Sept. 23, after the latest in a series of organized debates with Islamic scholars at Tirinyi Trading Center ended prematurely due to flaring tempers the previous night. He was 59.

At a previous debate, also sponsored by Nfunyeku’s Church of Uganda and other churches, Muslim leaders had threatened him and warned him to hold no more debates, a source said.

He will hold no more debates. Lost this one big time.

Although deplorable that someone was killed for organizing a debate, but what on earth was he trying to do, convert a Muslim to Christianity??? Also a debate between a Christian and Muslim is pretty much dumfounded crazy.

Unfortunately Kenya is a hot bed of political murder, just within their own elections.  And they have Somali terrorists just across the border who come to Kenya to do bad things.  It is surprising that Kenya isn't in a civil war between Muslims and non-Muslims.  So yes, there is a mutual martyrdom complex there, and the Christian got what he ultimately wanted I suspect ... just as the Muslims killed while committing terrorism got their 72 virgins too.

When politics and religion mix, as they do in most places ... watch out!  I can't imagine myself being violent over religion, but about politics, I would kill in some circumstances.  On topic, Mao was right, ending a debate does come from the barrel of a gun ;-(
