The NFL was tax exempt?

Why?
I think baseball and basketball are as well.  Why?  Because they have much more money to spend on lobbyists than most.  Why else???

So when you become rich enough, you don't have to pay for the public services of living in a society?

I need to get rich.

Right. The people that get the most benefit from farm subsidies are millionaires. Why should team owners be any different?

I dunno. Probably just that I don't like sports. I don't give these people any of my money and through my own self-centerednes, I cannot believe they have that much money since they aren't getting any of mine. Kind of like how you figure people you ignore should simply dry up and blow away.

For a time the NFL,  the parent organization of each NFL team was a non profit and didn't actually turn much of a profit if any,  but that was back when a guy named Paul  Brown could actually start a team in Cincinnati for about the cost of a new car, but now the same franchise is valued in the billions and the parent organization takes in those billions under profit sharing schemes and so on..That doesn't even mention the buildings they all do business in are almost always tax payer funded.

I am a sports fan--have been one for decades.  And will continue to be one.  But I must admit that I resent more and more the privileged status sports and it's owners and players enjoy.  They are rich beyond belief and they want more.  And they get annoyed when people complain about the fact they make so much money.  It is their due--just ask them!  Why should any city pay for a stadium so that a football team and it's players become wealthy beyond all reason?  Football is especially that way, and especially in the south.  High school football has become way, way too powerful for it's own good.  It has become a religion for so many people.  But then, the average American pays the way for all these guys--so how can you blame them for taking the money and running with it???  Why does the average baseball game cost a family of 4 $200?????? How can they afford to go????  But go, they do.

I have been a Packer fan since 1964, but now I rarely even watch games. Last season I watched 3 games all the way through, including the Superbowl. Everything has become so political and there is so many distractions from suicides to wife beatings to accusations of cheating that I don't care any more. The only good thing that happened in football last season was Ohio State winning the championship under Urban Meyer, because he is a straight guy and a great leader.

Ahhhh, Strom...................From the heights of agreement (been a Packer fan since '59), to the depths of despair.....................I've been a long suffering Oregon fan since birth (born in the state, so I did not have a choice). :))

Ohio State fan here, but the NCAA too is a scam.. Billions dumped into college football all in the name of what? Team spirit or some such dumb shit and those who are not fans (fanatics) also foot the bill..
