The belief in an after life where you will live forever is a denial of death with no logical or  reliable empericle evidence to support it. It gives a false sense of a glorious arrogant self that leads to extreme self-centerness in this life. Also, if your a Christian, you may live in constant fear of being condemn to an eternity of suffering in hell from any sin you commited. How does that bring comfort? Believing you are not going to live forever restores a true sense of ones place in the schemme of things and you don't worry about hell.

If you don't believe in an after life you will find meaning and purpose in this world we live in, and live your life to the fullest since it is the only life you have.  If one cannot do that in this life how would you do it in another? As for morality, it comes from our intelligence and has nothing to do with belief or no belief in God or an after life. You may not take action to protect your self or others in this life or want justice if you assume it will be provided in the next life. You may use your own best judgement in matters, instead of allowing youeself to be controlled by others who claim sacred authority.

There is no covincing evidence to me that religious belief improves health, in fact there is some evidense that it has harmful effects like believing in prayer or pseudo-medicine that is worthless. In fact there is no bases that exists for the claim often made by believers that religion is neccessary for a person to live a healthy, happy, and moral life. Religion blinds, deafens, and numbs  people to the reality we live in, and thiough this may temporarily soothe our anxieties, like drugs or alcohol, there is a painful price to be paid in the future for such cowardly denial and self defeating ignorance.

Not only can we be both well and good without God, we can live and be better. Buddha showed how to cope with the existence of suffering and death in the world without a god. The individual must find a way to eliminate his or her ego, to cease being self-absorbed, and to realize that he or she is not the center of the universe. This is a very great problem to overcome because we all have a consciouness that separates us from every other human and animal in the world. But there really is no other way.

It is a fact of life that all living things die including ourselves.  And there is no empericle evidence pointing to our consciousness surviving death. Science, which some religious people frown on, can extend our lives, but it will never provide immortality because even if all deseases and aging were eliminated we would still die from natural causes, storms, accidents,  war, or from killing each other thinking we can't die.  All we can do is accept the fact and learn to live with it the best we can. Until then, it is nice wanting to get out of bed in the morning.

Moot point indeed. Feel free to move on to other issues... like spelling and grammar.

No religion for me thank you very much; I 'm full of shit enough as it is.

Being flabbergasted about existence never made anyone disappear in a poof of flabbergas, so nevermind why we're here. We ARE here.
