Do scientists become scientists so that they can have sex?

If there is an evolutionary imperative to reproduce, then do people become scientists hoping that it will lead to them having more sex?

Though, apparently, our hunter-gatherer ancestors were able to have as much sex as they wanted and didn't need to speculate about things like gravity.
