I used to free climb trees. Does that count?

You know what? This reminds me what one of the famous climbers said before anyone managed to climb Everest when he was asked why he tried to the climb to the eEerest in the first place after he failed. (He died in the last expedition.) Forgot his name.

His answer was "Because it's there." I get that. I sincerely believe that's some sort of an instinct we have. Why do the kids climb to the shelves or tresholds? Or trees? Or the nearest wall? (I climbed on to everything possible as a kid.)

This is very different than climbing to Everest. A couple of kids doing something like this in Istanbul which is illegal of of course. Everyone think sthey are crazy.  I don't. I wouldn't do it. But I am not sure if I wouldn't do it because I can't or I wouldn't do it because it shouldn't be done.

"his philosophy was a mixture of three famous schools -the cynics, the stoics and the epicureans-and summed up all three of them in his famous phrase, 'you can't trust any bugger further than you can throw him, and there's nothing you can do about it, so let's have a drink.'" terry pratchett
