Boys of 13 and 17 helped in strangulation in lesbian murder-conspiracy.

BEVEREN - WAAS - Two boys of 13 and 17 years old aided in the murder of a woman from Beveren, of whom was thought for two years that she'd commited suicide in 2010, by hanging herself. The 13-year-old was to young to be trialed as an adult, but the 17-year-old (now 22) will appear before the Gent court of assizes, so an indictment from Friday tells us.

The body of the 25-year old Brenda Rollier was found on the first of July 2010 in her home in Beveren by her wife Cindy De Laet and Rollier's uncle. The first-responder arrived on the scene, but all he could do was determine the demise. A small investigation surrounding the circumstances of passing was performed, but according to the detectives all evidence pointed to suicide by hanging. The couple already lived apart for a few months and Rollier, who was said to be depressed, had begged De Laet to come back to her via sms.

Late 2011 the investigation was reopened. The mother of De Laet made a statement at the local police of Zwijndrecht. She witnessed that Brigitte Van Raemdonck, who had an affair with her daughter, confessed to her that she'd murdered Rollier. It took well to april 2012 before other family-members were interrogated and the lesbian murder-conspiracy was brought to light. From the investigation followed that, in compliance with De Laet, the murder was performed by Brigitte Van Raemdonck, her then 17-year old son Mathias Cop and a then 13-year old friend of his.

Van Raemdonck eventualy revealed how De Laet drugged the victim with sleeping-medication and then afterward went with her uncle for a walk with the dogs. Van Raemdonck then entered the home with her son and his friend. They'd told the boys it was their intention to kill the victim and had promissed them money. The three strangled Rollier, who was lying in the sofa stupified, and hanged the body by the stairs using a dog leash.

Van Raemdonck declared to have come up with the plans for the murder together with De Laet. De Laet initially confessed this as well, but later retracted those statements. She now insists that she only knew her lover was going to 'teach Rollier a lesson'. The boys did give out statements. The younger said Van Raemdonck fell from the sofa wiht Rollier and that he then placed his foot on the victims arm, all the while Cop held her other arm. He was given 50 euro by Cop after it was all over.

After the truth was revealed, the youngest culprit was placed in an institution, but because he wasn't 16 yet at the time of the murder, he couldn't be trialed as an adult. Cop was already declared to be trialed as an adult in 2013 by the youth court Judge. Next week he'll be appearing before the Gent court of assizes along with his mother and Cindy De Laet on accusation of murder.

Tuesday the jury for the trial will assemble.

I used to be fairly fluent in Spanish because I had Hispanic friends, but am not now from lack of use. Wish I had kept it up, it would be useful.
