So if we don't like our old God(s), let's make a new God!

Maybe it could do a better job of explaining things this time around. I have heard it projected by futurists that computers will attain mind and consciousness by the year 2029. So if that be the case, a computer could be constructed of unimaginable proportions.

"The computational theory of mind holds that the mind is a computation that arises from the brain acting as a computing machine. The theory can be elaborated in many ways, the most popular of which is that the brain is a computer and the mind is the result of the program that the brain runs.[3] A program is the finite description of an algorithm or effective procedure, which prescribes a deterministic sequence of discrete actions that produces outputs based only on inputs and the internal states (memory) of the computing machine."

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent,
Is he able but not willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able or willing?
Then why call him god?

Cthulhu's not a god, though, he just knows dark magic.

He's a priest. Which, given how terrifying he is, raises lots of disturbing questions.

The Great Old Ones are considered deities. At least, by people. And sometimes, non-people. Their power sets are certainly god-like, though eldritch abomination is a more accurate category. Monstrous size, indestructibility, bizarre physiology, spaceflight, limited ability to affect the physical world and to be affected by it, combined with magic-like abilities (mental domination, insanity-inducement)

Personally, I'm going with Yog-Sothoth.
