I must admit to being a nerd, approaching the world on a purely rational basis from as far back as I can remember.
I stopped believing in Santa Claus at the age of four and god at the age of eleven. The idea of magic beings did not make sense to me.
My parents never spoke of their religion although I was taken to church a few times as a small child.
What I would like to know is whether there is anyone else who grew up in suburban America without ever being told as a child about the significance of Jesus?
Everyone must have made an assumption that I had been indoctrinated, which was not the case. Without specific instruction I got the idea that God was some kind of magic grandfather in the sky that answered prayers, but no one told me about "The Savior", so I can honestly say I was never a Christian.

I was raised without it. In fact my mom, before I was born told a priest to get the hell out of her house and don't come back. We were allowed to  go to boring church instead of cartoons if we wanted,  but when mom caught me trying to get on the church bus I got the good old chewing out about hanging out with those goddamned hillbillies at the baptist temple.  :rollin:

Admit it. You're secretly green with envy.

Welcome FF! Regretfully, I was raised as a Catholic, so I can't say what a truly secular childhood is like.
