Another thing to note is that this isn't deliberate suicide. You can't come back...but the aim is that these people will continue to live until they simply die naturally on mars.

I think you'd have to choose some really quite exceptional individuals for the psychological burden to not be too great.
Even then, we can obviously only guess at how people would react to being on mars.

The question is, can we make our guesses educated ones? Are there any tests or trial runs we can do to in order learn from them?

I wonder why anyone even gives this type of stuff any sort of attention at all. The people that made this fatwa are a bunch of superstitious over-zealous retards that want to be simple people on Planet Earth and follow their religion and just be happy that way. Every single day people condemn science and technological progression in the name of religion.
