Fantasy football, okay I get it already, but lets watch...

I am of an age that Fantasy Football holds virtually no interest for me. First of all I played football at every level except college and pro, and secondly I enjoy the game not the fantasy about the game.
I host a weekly MNF party at my house for many of my neighbors. We get together and watch the game. Some drink (I don't), we snack, and general talk about the game. You know, like the old school people use to do. In recent years the Fantasy football players have taken over the game at my house. They calculate points on players they've drafted, they text people in their respective leagues, so on and so forth. What is really funny is they don't actually understand the real game at all. Okay some do and all of them do to a point.
My neighbor Ed, who never played a down in his life, is a football fanatic, but he coudn't tell you the difference between Cover 2, singled up man, or spread zone. He actually cheers against his own team (Dallas Cowboys) if someone on his fantasy team could get him points.
He tries to talk to me about football but his conversation is all over the place. Only then do I realize that he is talking about Fantasy Football and still it doesn't make any sense to me. He explained that his team was comprized of an "autodraft" and all he does is decide who from his team plays. Points are based solely on the players that he designates that week.
Well I can't get too excited about that kind of thing, so I guess I'll finally adjust the clock on the DVR or is it Blue Ray. Hell put the game back on, I have to see if any of my players gave me points.....!

I have to admit, I see zero point to fantasy football. I dont even care about the real thing. I even heard some NFL player got death threats because of it.

mykcob4, the point you raise, and others, are exactly why my position on fantasy football has long been that it is silly and bad for the sport of football. After 2 weeks of playing fantasy football (joined specifically to challenge my pre-held views) my position has only been reinforced.
