This has the potential for giving a whole new meaning to your girlfriend going down on you. If you break up and she goes down then...well... It'll make breaking up easy and Neil Sedaka wrong. :P
All hail my new signature!

Admit it. You're secretly green with envy.

Does groundwater depletion play a part in this?

QuoteWest-central Florida - Groundwater development in the Tampa-St. Petersburg area has led to saltwater intrusion and subsidence in the form of sinkhole development and concern about surface-water depletion from lakes in the area. In order to reduce its dependence on groundwater, Tampa has constructed a desalination plant to treat seawater for municipal supply.
I'll take that as a yes.

funny annecdote. My sister is worried a simillar thing could hapen in Den Helder, because -get this- groundwaterlevels are notoriously high over here.
No religion for me thank you very much; I 'm full of shit enough as it is.

Being flabbergasted about existence never made anyone disappear in a poof of flabbergas, so nevermind why we're here. We ARE here.

I did hear reports that the province of Groningen is slowly sinking into the ground due to natural gas extraction, though. You can't just keep pulling stuff out of the ground and expect to keep the buildings above them straight.
