Ok. I really didn't get to see the show but I heard on Access Hollywood that it was a pretty good show.

Did anyone here actually see it? Or have we all forgotten how to give a shit about self-important people patting themselves on the back?

Seth mcFarlane was the host and naturally didn't pull his punches in taking the piss out of Hollywood (which has its head so far up its ass most Of the actors probably think shit is a 3star Michelin meal).

Personally I thought the jokes crude but they were crude for a reason, in that the humourless people who make up he academy only understand that type of humour and they hate it (they loveAdam sandler, though. Game set and match).

I like it when people are made uncomfortable by stuff like this because it proves they take themselves too seriously.

On another note, his presenting was almost universally panned by critics who show through their writing they dont understand satire, sarcasm or wit (many accused him of being sexist whereas in fact he was taking the Piss out if misogynists like Chris Brown).

not forgotten, deliberate.

I thought Seth was hysterical and far more talents than I knew he was!  Loved it.
Anne Hathaway - ahhh....... that made me happy !!!

I am currently experiencing life at several WTFs per hour.

There were oscars? I had no idea.

I didn't watch, but I find it funny the these awards people keep hiring irreverent comedians like McFarlane and Ricky Gervaise, and then having a hissy fit when they act exactly like we all know they will.

I'm glad Hathaway won supporting actress, other than that, I couldn't give 2 craps about the Oscars this year, really.

The Dude

My favorite part was when Seth MacFarlene himself acknowledged how shitty Ted was.

I liked Ted. It was the quintessential love story between two bros. Man/bear love does not get  any deeper.

Actually I was hoping that McFarlene would have said something to offend the God crowd since he is the first openly atheistic host they have had as far as I remember.

How about the Oscars, huh? Have people forgotten about the Fatty Arbuckle scandal yet?

If he'd done that, he'd probably also be the last one they'll ever have.

I had to look up Seth McFarlene on Wikipedia.  Even then, he wasn't someone I recognized.  I watched the Academy Awards once a few years ago.  It was somewhat interesting, I suppose.  People sure get into it.  They start talking about it two months before the event, and set aside that evening on their calendars.  But I like my own rating system better.  I give awards to best picture and actor, but sometimes I don't bother.  I don't care who wins Best Audio Mixer.  I don't ever give out awards for that.

Surrogate

I was happy to hear that Christoph Waltz and Q. Tarantino got their Oscars.
Existence is a choice.   There is no chaos in the world, only complexity.   Knowledge of the complex is wisdom.   From wisdom of the world comes wisdom of the self.   Mastery of the self is mastery of the world. Loss of the self is the source of suffering.   Suffering is a choice, and we can refuse it.
It is in our power to create the world, or destroy it.

Waltz got best supporting actor last year too.  Tarantino seems to have a knack for writing script that no one but Waltz could do as well.  He's really good at that kind of over the top prankster con man.  He's fun to watch.
