Ever see something so incredibly stupid you had to make a youtube video explaining how stupid it is?

That's me right now: This was originally suppose to be less than a minute, but for that I need like a good gut reaction rant; I've been thinking about it too long now and it's in intellectual brain not "wtf did he say?" brain.

Tl;dr - Black people are the reason for... slavery? Idk it was weird... and it has over 200,000 views in just a few hours with thousands subscribing to this guy.

One thing I heard that was particularly egregious was that slavery on the whole was "good" for black people because if it weren't, they would've rebelled. Unbeknownst to me at the time, it turns out there were hundreds slave rebellions in the Colonies/US and the humble and "content" image of slaves was the end result of a LOT of savage repression and intimidation, a sort of Stockholm syndrome, not a natural state.

Another justification was that slave masters were often "kind" to their slaves. I didn't know exactly how to respond to this at the time except for acknowledging that some people are kinder than others. Hours later I had an esprit de l'escalier moment - I could've retorted that maybe some rapists are similarly "kind" to their victims but that doesn't excuse it. Alas, I missed my opportunity.

There are a lot of very interesting things that - once you actually stop and think of the implications and reasons - make an incredible amount of sense and seem incredibly important that just... disappear in history classes.

Like shouting into the abyss though.

Yeah, a lot of things get glossed over or given scant context so it just seems like it happened out of the blue when in reality, it's been brewing for a long time, like various revolutions. I swear, they make it seem like everyone was fine with European monarchy until one day the French went on the warpath. And it's so bizarre to read the American Revolution from a non-American publication, especially a British one. They make it sound like the Colonies just abruptly threw a hissy fit and the Crown begrudgingly let them leave. The other colonies were presumably perfectly happy with their status with the Crown. /s

And a lot of stuff just gets straight up ignored, especially the global south. I had never heard of the Caral-Supe civilization until I stumbled upon an article about them a couple months ago. South America's most ancient civilization that we know of, settled in modern Peru, various pyramids. Fascinating read.

"White washing", is an appropriate term for our early American history. Most people have no idea the real story of the Alamo. And in Texas, they refuse to allow the real story to be taught.

I am shocked that the state, in an attempt to prevent any future legislation on gay marriage, wound up banning all marriage could do such a thing.

I was a history major in college. I quickly learned just how 'white washed' our history was as taught in grade school and high school. It is amazing just how little peace this country has seen, especially considering we are such a peace-loving country--right???? Or the real reasons why the Plymouth colony was founded (not religious freedom for anybody but themselves--all the rest of the people were 'free' to follow their sect). Our country was not founded upon freedom, but on the backs of black slaves and the slaughter of Native Americans. The Mexican American War was a naked war of aggression on the part of the US and it's desire to take land from Mexico. The first shots were fired in Mexico, when the Mexican army had every right to be. The Alamo, that Texas bastion of freedom and heroes. Actually, the white texans had to sign a 5 part contract with Mexico to get the land from the Mexican govt. in texas. I don't remember all 5 of the stipulations, but the recipients of land were to be able to speak Spanish; I think they had to profess to be Catholic, and they were not allowed to own slaves. Texans rebelled mainly because they wanted slaves. So, the Alamo housed the bad guys--the slavers--and not the good guys. Polk wanted Mexican land so he could have the US spread from the Atlantic to the Pacific and joined with the texas slavers to get it. Stolen land and slaves was what the Mexican War was really about. (Sort of kin to Putin and his Ukraine war) I could go on and on. Also dig up Howard Zinn and read his account of our history.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent,
Is he able but not willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able or willing?
Then why call him god?

CRT would be equally banned if it concentrated on the treatment that the Irish received when they arrived, or how we treated the "coolies" who built the railroads. And "muricans" of Irish heritage would probably call it all a lie...while basking in their own racist hatred of blacks.

I remember when CRT meant cathode ray tube. Now it means something completely different. 🤔

Yes. It was a land grab from start to finish. And to top it all off, the Americans were upset about "foreigners" living on these claimed lands afterwards!

Can you guys imagine what 20th world history would have been like if Mexico had hung on to modern-day Texas, New Mexico and California? (Coahuila y Tejas, El Territorio de Nuevo México, and El Territorio de Alta California respectively)

I am descended from eight Irish couples who came to America in the 1890s. I don't hate blacks. Can we ease up on the stereotypes?
