Live performance of the Cowboy Junkies cover of a Velvet Underground classic, "Sweet Jane".  R.I.P. Lou Reed

I love this song.

This has less than 1000 views, and I feel obligated to try and fix that.

I always liked their cover of this song.  It's great to see The Bangles still performing in 2019, and check out 60 year old Susanna Hoffs!!  holy crap! she must sleep in a time machine.

From the first time that I heard 4 Non Blondes on the radio in the early 90's, I became addicted to the sound of Linda Perry's magnificent voice.

A lot of the production/mixing doesn't really do much for me, sounds flat, but the melodies and grooves are absolutely great and once the vocalist picks up she is great as well.

WARPED

Was jamming to these guys on the way to work this morning. ONLY The sun and the moon album and Tyrant. That last album was shitaki mushrooms. It will make your ears bleed.

But I've learned that deep down, there's a light that never goes out!"

Possibly the most horrifying song I've ever heard.

The singer in my last post, Imam Alimsultanov, was killed in 1996 by the FSB - in Odesa, Ukraine, where he and several other Chechen artists had fled the war.

It seems important to me that these songs are preserved; many of these Iron Curtain artists (from various eras) mainly were preserved through people risking their life, their families' lives, to smuggle cassette tapes past ever-watching Russian eyes.

They are spiritual photographs of a time... and unfortunately often a very dark period of time.

I've been going through some dark moods lately. I've been listening to some inspirational music lately to lift myself up, and it has been working very well. One song I've been listening to is One Way Dream, a song from the most recent Sonic game.

It's a bit corny, but that's part of its charm. Some have suggested it's a self-aware song about how the Sonic franchise refuses to die. It works without that context, though. It's just a song about being optimistic about life's opportunities and learning from your mistakes, rather than letting life tear you down.
"Oh, wearisome condition of humanity,
Born under one law, to another bound;
Vainly begot, and yet forbidden vanity,
Created sick, commanded to be sound."
--Fulke Greville--
