We 'new atheists' have a reputation for being militant, but make no mistake  we didn't start this war. If you want to place blame put it on the the religious zealots who have been poisoning the minds of the  young for a long long time."

My current wife was living in Albuquerque when I met her at the old RDF forum. When I went there to bring her to St. Louis the Balloon Festival was going on. Beautiful during the day, amazing at night. "Stained Glass Cathedrals flying through the air." Defo worth a trip.

Be sure to visit Barringer Crater (west of Albuquerque, on the way to the Grand Canyon.)

That black spot on the edge is a parking lot. The crater is just under a kilometer wide.

It's a couple of hundred quid per week cheaper at that.
Bugs bunny was always taking a wrong turn at Albuquerque! 😉🐰

New Mexico in August? Take plenty of sunscreen, and unless you are going to some elevation, lightweight clothing.

Quote from: ManUfan on February 19, 2023, 04:13:03 PMWe're going to travel light :) we've holidayed in Europe for a long while now so it's time for a change.. we're hoping for a proper summer holiday, plenty of heat and sunshine...

I hear tipping in the US is the done thing.. What percentage of the bill is normal? Don't want to come across as cheap :D
Yeah, tipping is the thing here.  The typical tip is about 20%--this is for a sit down restaurant.  Fast food places don't get tips.  Personally, I usually go the 20% tip route unless the service is really bad, then I make it half that.  And if it is just shitty service I've been known to leave a penny--a huge insult to any server.  Good luck on your trip and have a good time.

Flagstaff is a good pivot point. You can zip southwest and see the London Bridge.

Carlsbad Cavern is not for the claustrophobe but very epic.

I'd vote for Carlsbad as a must see!

Cave fans will want to visit Meramec Caverns, in Missouri. Jesse James used it as a hideout. The Jesse James Wax Musuem, just off the interstate on the way to the Caverns, is a Must Miss.
