yay!!, it worked..
I'll try and keep this short..Was raised as a catholic and went through catholic school till the 7th grade in Brooklyn..was baptized in Notre Dame church in Paris at the age of one..My father was a strict catholic and the school I went to was lets say sort of like a military school..Nuns could hit or abuse us and it was common policy back in the 60 but the fear of god made us learn well..Basically we got the new and old testament beaten into us..With my Father being a Doctor in Chemistry we traveled all over the world, Germany, Peoria,Hawaii and then always back to Brooklyn to good ole St. Patrick's..Then for some reason my Parents decided to buy a home in San Rafael, Marin County, CA in 1967..these days it's home to the rich and famous but back then homes were cheap and relatively unknown..So for the first time in my life I went to a public school..What shock, never had PE before or my education so backwards..It was going back to the 4th grade..So then came HS..68 was a time of peace and love in San Francisco and I was spell bound by it and by then started to feel rebellious..started smoking pot in my freshman year and took by first hit of LSD and it opened a whole new door to my future..Made me realized that god didn't exist and to this day I firmly believe that..Faith is good for many as to keeping community and doing good deeds but all of that can be done without that..I see folks so backwards in their thought believing in false stories in the Bible and actually believing that a god created the earth 5 to 10 thousand years ago..How much proof do you need as to how thats false..I know its hard for some folks to understand how all the universe and galaxies got here or that there is no beginning or no end to space, makes one think that a god must of created it or else how could we be here and why..it is what it is..Hope I didn't bore anyone.. cheers..

Thanks Un and Pop..

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent,
Is he able but not willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able or willing?
Then why call him god?

What did you experience?

My experiences supported the opposite of your conclusion... God everywhere, connections webbing everything together.

G'day! 72 yo life-long atheist here. First time I dropped acid was on the slopes of Mt. Etna, while it was erupting. Still haven't sorted out what was real then.

Wait. So many questions!!

Did you know it was erupting beforehand? Did you have a 'Spirit Guide' / 'Reality' person? Did you keep or make any evidence of it? As in, something like.. writing during or afterwards, or keeping a rock from the area, or a photo? Were you being helped by others, in an evacuation or something? I could go on, though I do not expect and am not asking for all my curiosity to be satisfied!

My first time, I used something to unlock the bathroom door that someone had run into with a knife, threatening to kill herself. I was determined to get in and get that knife from her. I didn't know her well; she wasn't supposed to be there with the dude that *was* my designated Spirit Guide. They had just had a fight, and he had left the house.

I don't entirely remember what all she said or I said, but I do recall a number of things... Her screaming at me to get out, waving the knife about towards me and raising it towards herself as well. She kept saying that she just wanted me to leave her alone. I told her I wanted nothing more, but I couldn't leave without the knife. I did get it, and she's alive and well.

Turns out, she was that guy's girlfriend, had just found out she was pregnant that week, and she thought that I was coming on to him... But, I remember very much wanting to kiss her, not him. I don't think that would have gone over very well, either.

Comparing those starkly sobering moments to subsequent experiences, I find it interesting how clear I became when needed. It was a strange shift from watching dust dance and shimmer like tiny fireworks and sparkly swirling snow one moment, to needing to intervene the next.

I don't think it was a smart idea, but I was 18, and I don't think I would have handled it better if I was in my full faculties..

I wonder if you had anything like that, like you recognized a real threat and responded to it with a close semblance of your sober self? I don't know how close you were to danger, just that I have reasonable certainty that you did survive...

I was stationed in Sicily for three years. Eruptions were "routine". We went to see the lava flows when we had nothing else to do. Never had a spirit guide or any reason to have one. I saved fiction for Heinlein, et al.

Spirit Guide was just the term my friends used to describe someone who would stay sober and make sure you were okay. A safety net. I didn't bother with one after the abject failure of my first Spirit Guide. But I did it a few times for others before discovering how tiresome it was.

I've been curious about micro dosing ever since my PTSD has needed much more management..
