If you want to feel like shit, watch this movie. It's exactly as depressing as you would expect.

That is a complement to it, but still.
Not many "like" an accurate, realistic war movie.

"I can't believe a man who actually served on the frontlines of a war that cannot ever hope to be even slightly described by words - we could say outright horrifying in the most literal sense of the word, demonic and devoid of humanity as well, but that's not a billionth of the accuracy needed - ... I cant believe he would not write a puff piece convincing our youth to go to war.

Stupid libtards hate war, what a bunch of pansies. Not like me, I would have killed 10,000 of those French before the end of the movie. Yeah."

Edit - Upon re-reading it, the sardonic humor of an (presumably) American cheering on the Germans killing the French because he is too stupid to realise that just because the movie was from the German perspective doesn't mean he has to cheer for them was lost on me. Also, the humor that he probably would have been fighting for the Germans in at least one of those wars...

There's also the unfortunate fact that literal nazis weren't fans of the book either, apparently for similar reasons, forcing the author to leave for Switzerland, then the US.  Now there's a hill to die on.

It's strange for people who live such peaceful, comfy lives far removed from warfare attempting to gatekeep what makes a good war movie, disappointingly but unsurprisingly deciding that a feel-good glorification of war is best.  I feel like opinions would change rapidly when faced with the pervasive uncertainty and terror and sorrow of actual warfare.

Finally, it's mildly annoying that such natural perceptions and wishes for a better world are branded as "liberal" and therefore worthy of scorn and opposition.  I would like to say that such people would jump into a volcano if told that liberals disapproved of such an activity, but alas, this world would never be so fortunate.

I really liked this one. Which is kind of odd as it's completely different from stanley kubrick's the shining. It's q completely different pace of film, less scary, different genre altogether.

But somehow, after the first 15 minutes or so, that difference which initially had me weary, becomes irrelevant. The story works, in a weird way. I like everyone's acting. Even the kids'. And the moments that we do see the shining shine through, are fun in a dorky yet respectful way.

Often, when we want a sequal, we tend to want the same thing but slightly different because we want to relive the original.
And it can work in that regard. Die hard 2 is pretty fun, even as it makes fun of itself for being a sequel. Empire strikes back took what worked in new hope, expanded on it and gave it a killer hook.
But how often does this work for horror movies? I stopped watching after saw 2. I don't care for nighmare on elmstreet number seventeen.
But aliens was a better sequel than most because it dared to go a different route and take on a different tone than the original.
I applaud the filmmakers and stephen king for making a sequel that dared tl be different, but still clearly tied to the origonal. They pulled it off, imho

Black Panther 2.  10/10.  Badass Seal of Approval.

I'm not joking.  This movie is amazing.  It is everything I wanted in a Black Panther sequel and more.  I watched it with a friend and we cried, laughed, were on the edge of our seats, and cried again.  Very touching.

If you like Marvel movies at all or Black Panther 1 even a little bit, you have to go see this movie.  If you're in traffic, take the shoulder to the nearest movie theater.  If you're in a plane, parachute down.  If you're babysitting, take the kids with you.  Do whatever you gotta do to make it happen.

I don't want to spoil anything, so I'll just describe the colors I saw.  I saw a lot of white, some white/black, a ton of blue, some aquamarine, and even a this odd shade of aquamarine that I can only describe as "lower" blue than all the rest.  Definitely eye-catching.

Interesting. Out of all the Marvel movies from this phase that I'd expect to be great, the Black Panther sequel without Blank Panther wasn't one at the top of the list.

ikr?  I went into this blind only seeing a poster with Shuri, the Queen, and the Dora Milage on one side and some weird-looking people on the other side.  I braced for a generic Marvel face-off.  But it was very different than what I expected.

I'll also note that I was one of only a couple white people in the whole theater.  That's unusual.  Not bad, just different.  I reminded myself to be on my best behavior, a model minority lol.

Is the young lady who spouted the racist comments in the first movie in this one?

A movie featuring a mainly black cast, during the era where all the white guys on YouTube are complaining about Marvel going "woke," is mostly watched by black people? Say it ain't so. lol

Yeah, it turns out that people like watching fictional characters who look like them.  Shocker.  I don't like just throwing around the R-word, but the people saying that it's horrible and woke are Re....allly reallly wrong.

Going into this movie, I knew literally nothing about the movie's antagonists, but I am 100% on board with them.  No spoilers, so I'll leave it at that.

In fairness, she called a CIA operative a colonizer, which is not really all that far off.

So she surrendered the high ground quite easily.
