I'll get to it in a bit.

Joker sequel news!

Joker 2: Folie à Deux

Let me just say, I love the title.  Artsy, French (aka artsy), with a nice little double entendre - meaning shared psychosis/madness but also literally meaning "folly of two".  It depicts their criminal careers in general and fight against Bats in particular as folly.

Lady Gaga will play a big role in this movie, almost certainly as Harley Quinn (hence the title)

And it'll be a musical, as befitting poor Arthur Fleck locked away in Arkham Asylum, spiralling through madness.  Paradoxically, he's never been more free.  His only companion, the haunting melodies in his soul.  Until she shows up...

Didn't see it, but the paper reviewed a new movie called Bodies Bodies Bodies. It's about trust fund babies having a drug-fueled party and then shit goes sideways.

I'm-a give it a pass. I don't want to see trust fund babies do anything. Fortunately, I usually get my wish.

Just watched Encanto on Disney+. I'm sure I'm not the first to say this, but it's a very good movie. Good story, good message, pretty visuals. It's choreography made me feel like I was watching a play at the theatre. I was kinda meh on some of the songs, but I'm generally not into musicals anyway (although I'm glad they've been making a comeback). Sometimes the lyrics go by a little too quick for me, but that's why subtitles are a thing.

Saw Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero last night. I was pleasantly surprised with the story. I was worried about some things I saw in the trailer, but it was executed well. Pan and Piccolo were the best parts of the movie. Seems Gohan is taking a bit too much after his dad in the fathering department, leaving Piccolo to, once again, play the role of surrogate father.

Visually, it was a mixed bag. It looks awesome at certain key moments, but looks weird and awkward at other times.

The movie is funny, with some clever gags. It's also oddly pervy. It comes from a character you wouldn't expect. Bulma has her butt right in the camera for a few seconds, and Cheelai's clothes are very skin tight. You can see everything.

Overall, it's a good movie, but I wish they'd have used Broly's type of animation instead.

I just finished rewatching Elmer Gantry for the first time in decades. What a great movie! I think it may be my all time favorite, but there are a few others that might give it a run. I do think it's Burt Lancaster's best, bar none.

I just finished my umteenth viewing (on YouTube) of The Baltimore Bullet. It's a pretty good movie about a couple of pool players who want to win the big bucks from the guy with the big bucks.

It's got some pretty good actors in it: James Coburn, Bruce Boxleitner, Jack O'Halloran (Jaws, from James Bond fame) and Omar Sharif (he's the guy with the money). Oh, and Willie Mosconi.

Have any of you seen it?

Jaws was played by Richard Kiel. O'Halloran was offered the role but turned it down.

He did play Non in the first two Superman movies.

I Lurch a little when I hear Keil's name.

My bad! I looked him up on Google, and so I see you're right. Amazing resemblance, though!

Don't feel bad. I thought "Rock n Roll Hoochie Coo" was Led Zeppelin for the longest time.

Yeah, I just listened and I can certainly see (or hear, as the case may be) why you'd've thought so!

Watched Thor: Love & Thunder today. I liked it. I was a little nervous they'd make Thor look bad so they could try to elevate his female replacement, but I'm happy to report that that is not the case. Jane is powerful as Thor, but she's actually not on his level. She uses a weaker weapon, although they give Mjolnir a new ability so that it wouldn't just be an inferior version of Stormbreaker. The villain is also well done, with a clear motive and a logical goal.

However, if you expect the Guardians of the Galaxy to be an integral part of the story, just don't get your hopes up for that. They're around for about five minutes, and then they're gone. It was like they thought to themselves, "I know we set up this Thor + Guardians of the Galaxy mashup thing, but now that we're writing this, it doesn't really make sense. I mean, Thor is literally a god. He kinda makes the other guys obsolete when it comes to battle."

There's also one joke in the movie that was already so old when this movie came out. And it wasn't even a one-time joke, but a recurring one, like they think anyone above the age of five would be laughing their asses off. If you've seen the movie, you know what I'm referring to.

I've seen people on the internet complaining about it, but this is one of those times I do not understand the critics. There are some people who are like, "Nothing in the MCU after End Game was any good, except Spider-Man: No Way Home." Come on, guys. Wanda-Vision? What If...? Loki? Moon Knight? Most MCU shows/movies are still good, or at least okay. The only outright awful MCU things, IMO, have been Eternals and She-Hulk. There have always been stinkers in the MCU.

That being said, there are some things in Phase 4 I still haven't seen. Namely Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, and all those Groot shorts. And none of them particularly interest me, so...

I recommend Hawkeye.  With some exceptions, it's a pretty grounded and heartfelt story.  Like the other tv shows, it takes a few episodes for it to really fire on all cylinders, but imho it's a decent christmas made-for-tv movie (I know it's a series, but it feels more like a long movie)
