The Edge of Tomorrow. Better than I expected. I just can't stand the actor.

Tom Cruise is okay, but any movie where Bill Paxton dies is a good one*. And in that movie he dies a shit ton of times.

*Apologies to Sean Bean.

I've played a lot of X-COM games like Edge of Tomorrow.  It was really tough getting Otto Zander out of that terror site alive.  😓

Let me first just state that it is an amazing movie, one of the best I have seen in a while. I would rate this movie ten out of ten stars.

There are only two things I want to touch upon.

First, the sister is my favorite character in the film. Yeah, she's got a Jesus thing, but honestly it adds to her character in such a good way that you can overlook it.

Secondly, it is never explained why the abductor kills these boys.

I'm trying to get into dumb, no thinking movies. So I thought, action movies! Well, it i snot going bad, but at some point they look all the same I guess.

The Gray Man. It wasn't as bad as I expected. OK, I guess. I don't like the actor, but surprisingly he works. I first thought, him? But then I got why they picked him.

Have you tried any of the John Wick movies?  I find them rather mindless and full of action (most of which is impossible to pull off; but they do a good job of mapping the moves).  The good guy wins--the bad guys lose----yep, my kind of movie.  I also like the Equalizer movies (including the old BBC star in the series); extreme bad guys and extreme good guy winning.  Mindless, but full of action.

I've seen the first one. I didn't know anything about it, so when they murdered the poor puppy, I automatically liked the rest of the movie, lol. How are the others? I've also read that John Wick kills 299 people in all 3 movies. It's easy to remember because of the number.

Equalizer... Sounds familiar, but I know I haven't seen it. I'll check that out.

Somebody reminded Conair. I've seen it, but don't remember anything, lol.

Good to see something close to combat shooting in the Wicked movies. Been nearly a half century for me.

For me, Conair fits into this category--mindless (I call it chewing gum for the mind) action.

The 1985 TV series is generally good--Robert McCall plays the Equalizer, and I think it ran for 4/5 years or so.  Denzel Washington plays the Equalizer in 2 movies I think--top notch mindless action.  The current TV series is not all that good.

I agree.  So are some of the westerns and sci fi books.

Edger Rice Burroughs books are like that.  Tarzan and John Carter of Mars--many volume sets of each. Loved the Chessmen of Mars--it added another set of squares around the board and added a new man with it's on unique moves.  In HS I made a board like that and then played the game according to the rules given in the book.  It was, at least for me, quite fun.

Burroughs was so formulaic I could call the ending when I was in high school. Same with the Doc Savage pulps.

I agree--which is why I've read the John Carter of Mars series and the Tarzan series in high school.  It chewed up time and did not require any deep thinking.  He also had a bunch of other books dealing with the middle of the Earth (Pellucidar) and westerns .  He can provide mindless action reading for months!

So many other authors who weren't shite.

Has anyone seen Thor: Love & Thunder? Would be nice to get an opinion from someone who doesn't think it's part of a radical feminist agenda to...something.
