Going to skip Guardians of the Galaxy for now, seeing as how a particular area is frustrating me as it has frustrated others.

QuoteWithout wading too deep into spoiler territory, the central objective of the mission involves controlling your ship with analog sticks and using the triggers to dogfight against a cluster of enemies trying to claim a bounty on your head. The premise sounds exciting enough, but its inherent flaws make it too frustrating for anyone to actually enjoy. For one, because vehicle controls are only used a few times during the entire game, the scheme that exists doesn't feel good. Both evasive maneuvers to dodge and flip are tied to the same stick, which means you'll constantly find yourself evading in unintentional directions and losing track of your target.

This problem worsens during the second stage of the fight when you're prompted to hit specific spots on Captain Glory's mothership to finish the assault. So, not only are players suddenly presented with an awkward and unfamiliar control scheme but they're then asked to use it with a certain level of precision that feels uncomfortable.

So now I'm downloading Ghost of Tsushima.
The gameplay looks to incorporate mechanics from both AC games as well as Horizon games. Looks fun.

Sorginak

After Ghost of Tsushima, which might take a while longer since it's an open-world game, I might try a story-driven game. Haven't played one of those in a while.

Last Stop is available through the PS+ game catalog.

If it's also available, I might try A Plague Tale

Blackleaf

There's a game coming out next month called "Stray." It's set in a dystopian looking future, and you play as a cat. It looks to be an exploration heavy game with puzzles and stealth elements.

Oh, also, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is now on Steam. I hear it chugs a bit, but I expect that may depend on what hardware you're using. I also hear there are mods that make it better, so keep that in mind. So if you are either unable or unwilling to shell out for a PS5, but you wanted to give FFVII Remake Intergrade a try, you now have another option. I played the non-Intergrade version on my brother's PS4, and it's a very good game. Would recommend.

On the last part of Ghost of Tsushima; Iki Island.

Sorginak

Iki Island (Ghost of Tsushima) kind of got on my nerves, so I'm downloading a new game. I was done with the base game anyway. Iki Island is just a DLC, one I don't mind abandoning.

Anywho, now I'm downloading South Park: The Fractured But Whole

Sorginak

Did not care for the South Park games, so now I'm downloading Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales

Got Sonic Origins on my Switch. It's a collection of older Sonic games, namely Sonic 1, Sonic CD, Sonic 2, and Sonic 3 & Knuckles. It includes a few extras, including challenges for each game, quality new animations serving as connective tissue between the games, a Story Mode which combines all four games into one experience (using the previously mentioned animations), etc.

There are two different versions of each game. There's a Classic Mode, which is basically the original version of the game, and then there's Anniversary Mode, which recreates the originals with a new engine created by Christian Whitehead, the main guy behind Sonic Mania. Whitehead's remakes have mostly been previously available already. These provide wide screen support, among other improvements. They also add Tails and Knuckles to each game, except for CD, which doesn't include Knuckles. This is, however, the first time Whitehead's version of Sonic 3 & Knuckles has been released, and his versions of Sonic 1 and 2 were previously limited to mobile devices.

Additionally, the Anniversary versions no longer have lives, but instead have collectible coins, which are used to unlock things in the museum. Nothing too exciting there. Art, music, animations, most of which were already available online, but there's some interesting stuff in there I've never seen before. Coins are also used to retry Special Stages, if you don't succeed the first time. Since some Special Stages can be quite difficult, having that option is very convenient, and personally made CD considerably more enjoyable for me.

I noticed some new sprites in Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Anyone not familiar with the game might not even notice, because they match the original style very well, but as someone who played the game religiously as a kid, I noticed, and they were very much appreciated. For example, originally, Super Sonic would share some sprites with normal form Sonic, just with a yellow color pallet. In this version, Super Sonic's sprites are all unique to his Super form.

Some things I don't like though:

The price. While this is a nice collection, it seems a bit pricey, especially with the DLCs. Sonic Mania, which was a brand new game, launched at a fraction of the price of this collection. Mania is more worth the price too, in my opinion.

Speaking of DLC, the way Origins handled DLC was confusing. Nobody quite understood what any of it meant, and the way it was presented with what was included with what was just a mess. Just do yourselves a favor and pass on the DLCs. They're completely unnecessary, and don't add anything substantial to the collection. They feel like corporate SEGA trying to nickel and dime customers for stupid stuff.

When I played through Sonic 3 & Knuckles, I noticed a few glitches. There's a drilling robot that causes debris to fall. It's supposed to last a few seconds, and disappear when the robot is out of view. In this version, the debris effect just keeps going for a long while. Seemed like it would never go away. Usually, if you're in Super or Hyper form, you'll revert to normal form immediate after beating a boss, but there's one boss where this didn't happen. It counted my points, then reverted me back to normal when the Act 2 card appeared on screen. Additionally, there's a part in the first level where the player originally kept control of their character, but Anniversary Mode instead turns it into a cutscene, forcing your character to stand in a certain spot. Small change, not really important, except that I noticed the game freeze for a moment when it took control away. Thought the game crashed for a moment. Seems like this game needed a little more polish, and hopefully these issues will get patched out.

In Anniversary Sonic 2, Tails takes sooooo long to respawn. I'll be halfway through a level, and I'll be stuck hearing him jump, jump, jump, trying hopelessly to reach me. BOING! BOING! BOING! Got on my nerves a bit. I swear, it wasn't like this in the mobile version.

The collection teases players with two more games, and some fans speculated that because the islands for those games could be seen on the map that they might secretly be unlockable. Well, if they were planning to include those games, they would have told us so. The islands from Sonic Spinball and Sonic 3D Blast are only there for menus.

This would have been a good opportunity for Whitehead to add Knuckles to CD. CD was the first remake Whitehead made back in the day, and Tails was the only character he added to the game. Later remakes included Knuckles as well as Tails. For some reason, they didn't add Knuckles to Origin's version of CD.

No unlockable Amy. Uuuuugh. The new animations feature Amy prominently, and show off her abilities. If they had included Amy as a secret unlockable character, that would have been awesome. I would have had no issues with the price if Amy were in the games. Some fans had hope they might have secretly included her, but I think most of us knew it wouldn't happen. Maybe...maybe it will happen with an additional DLC down the line? I wouldn't count on it, but it would be nice.

In summary: It's overpriced, but it's nice. Sonic 3 & Knuckles needs some patches. The collection doesn't really have any surprises. It's mostly upfront about what it is, so don't expect any secrets, like with the Gems collection back in the day. I recommend it...after a price drop. Get it on sale.

Edit: Forgot to mention, S3&K's music has almost entirely been replaced. There are allegedly legal barriers keeping them from using the original music, composed by Michael Jackson. If you get the game on PC, you can probably find a mod that brings back the original music, but that's kind of a pain.

I almost always play some hybrid melee/support caster build, like Cleric or Shaman or Druid.  I will literally delete the game if I'm forced to choose between pure tank, pure dps, and pure healing.

My favorite class ever was a City of Heroes class where I was decent at melee combat, but I constantly passively buffed everyone around me with several aura powers.  Everyone loved the boost, and by extension, loved me too.

And I could occasionally summon spider-shaped robots that shot lightning at people.  And guess what?  They got buffed from my auras, too.

I was never uber dps but I was always helpful, and that's even better in a team.

Sorginak

In MMOs, I won't play healer or tank. Too much responsibility. Then when you decide to go hybrid DPS Cleric, everyone automatically thinks you're a healer and expects you to heal in parties. Or if you go hybrid DPS Fighter, they expect you to tank when that's not even your branch skill specialty.

In the only MMO I ever enjoyed, Forsaken World, which is closing its servers later this year, I played a Bard DPS. I enjoyed it. I want to get into another MMO, but I honestly don't know what to play and I'm too lazy to do any in-depth research. The only stipulation I'm seeking is the option to auto battle, because I don't like mashing freaking keys on the computer unless I'm typing a sentence. Know of any MMO games that meet that criteria?

Spider-Man: Miles Morales was a shorter game than I was expecting.

Now, onto Last Stop

Little Hope was another really good game.

Such a fan of the story-driven genre.

Now, onto The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan

With that game done, it's onto Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

Not sure what happened to Drake, haven't played all the games. Did a search, though:
QuoteIt is the first Uncharted game not to feature series protagonist Nathan Drake.

Guess they just decided to go in a different direction, which probably also explains why a new game hasn't come out since 2017. Who knows, but there are no plans for an expansion of the series:
QuoteDespite an HD collection for PS3 and Vita in 2012 and a similar re-release bundle for PS4 in 2017, there hasn't been a new game in the series in over 12 years.

And last year, Naughty Dog co-president Even Wells made it clear that the studio wasn't working on a new entry in the series.

Oh my god, it's perfect! Thank you. :D
