Yeah, it's creepy for us normal people. As far as I understand, it's been pretty much the whole deal since they've re-invented themselves at the beginning of the 20th century. So it makes a lot of sense from the monarchy's point of view. How are they going to stay hot in media with today's pop culture? the moment they fall down there, they have no use. I think it's just going to be more of the same, to be honest - at least here in America. I would be surprised if our culture didn't continue to view them as celebrities instead of creepy old monarchs with some really powerful people pulling strings around and through them like they really are.

Here's to hoping the Brits are smarter than us, but at least over here I see no evidence of that.
