QuoteA US military training document has described the political philosophy of socialism â€" a relatively mainstream term in politics around the world â€" as a “terrorist ideology” akin to neo-Nazism.

The document, which was obtained by The Intercept news website, was used in the US navy. It was entitled: Introduction to Terrorism/Terrorist Operations, and aimed at some members of the navy’s internal police, the outlet reported.

On one page of the document, in a section titled Study Questions, the question is asked: “Anarchists, socialists and neo-Nazis represent which terrorist ideological category?”

Yeah, that's not at all ominous when the government starts telling their military police that political ideologies they dislike are "terrorist organizations".

And traditionally many of the world's navies have been the least political of their armed services. This may have even been the case with Nazi Germany...but I can't recall where I heard that.

The only political Navy incident I can think of was the Russian Imperial Navy's Aurora going rogue and helping the Bolsheviks... it looks like the rest of the Navy either deserted or were killed during the Red Terror, so I guess the deserters could kinda be considered political?

I know the Luftwaffe, at least at the early stage of the war, seemed to be pretty a-political in their stances towards warfare with the West from the stories I've heard, but that's again way outside my realm of expertise.

I voted for a guy who literally described himself as a socialist, so evidently my patriotism is in question.

Socialism for only the rich is still fine and dandy, though.

And yet the US (and Canada, where I live) have at least partly socialist economies. Anytime you’re paying taxes that go toward the common good, like education, health care and infrastructure, not to mention emergency services like fire and police, you’re embracing socialism to some degree.

All that stuff plus military contractor handouts and corporate bailouts is Good Socialismâ,,¢

Money that flows from the poor and middle classes back to the poor and middle classes is Bad Socialism because it lessens class warfare against them.  Therefore, they need to be taught to fear Bad Socialism.
