You have to go thru gyrations to believe in gods that allow evil in the world...especially when they promise to protect you from them and don't.

I have never had a god promise me anything. Did a priest promise you something? Did a book promise you something? You are just gullible and bitter about it.

The Bible does, lots of promises, lots of lies. You're just gullible and refuse to admit it.
A humans desire to live is exceeded only by their willingness to die for another. Even god cannot equal this magnificent sacrifice. No god has the right to judge them.-first tenant of the Panotheust

The best words the Bible offers are these: "Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity."

All else is gibberish.

If you ever believed a book, then you are the fool.

If you ever believed a human, then you are the fool.

And G-d doesn't talk to me either. And not bitter about it.

Santa Claus? Pretty bitter about him ;-)

What no ...

Time for peace, time for war? Seems pretty accurate to me.

Hello all. I joined this forum and posted here because I am conflicted and confused and I am either looking for more answers or support (or maybe both).

I do know one thing. I've asked myself. If I were brought up religiously neutral (not raised in any religion). Would I choose to be Catholic or even Christian? The answer is no for a lot of reasons. I don't think I would belong to any religion. I think that's interesting to ponder.

I welcome your thoughts and experiences and doubts. If you have questions, this is a good place to ask.

I don't think I can start new threads yet, so I figured I would ask on my own original thread. Does anyone know of a good list of secular charities that are helping with hurricane Dorian relief? In the past I always gave to Catholic Relief services and I want to give to something not affiliated with religion. I've been doing a lot of online searches and only found one so far: Foundation Beyond Belief. Thanks!

I think Doctors without borders takes donations.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent,
Is he able but not willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able or willing?
Then why call him god?

Thanks! I was hoping for something a little longer term, to help rebuild. But people will need medical help for a long time as well (not to mention I am sure the conditions are ripe for disease).

We 'new atheists' have a reputation for being militant, but make no mistake we didn't start this war. If you want to place blame put it on the the religious zealots who have been poisoning the minds of the young for a long long time."

YOu might want to wait on that. It looks as if the Bahamas is going to get nailed again.

I wonder if this time it will go on to hit Alabama?
The Christian church, in its attitude toward science, shows the mind of a more or less enlightened man of the Thirteenth Century. It no longer believes that the earth is flat, but it is still convinced that prayer can cure after medicine fails.

Bye y'all. Thanks for all the babel fish, etc... Been a great few years... I'm gone.

Baruch, you are on your own, drown the site with absurd posts. I won't be pulling you back to reality anymore.
