Canonical, the makers of Ubuntu have announced that they will be officially affiliated with the Chinese government to bring a new Ubuntu based OS to the Chinese population.

I saw that. I wonder if they're going to outlaw Windows. China's gonna hate Unity.

nah unity is pretty cool although i love XFCE more.
But unity is very user friendly and it looks much prettier than an OSX system and its completely free and secure i think the maoists will love this OS.
Also linux mint debian was just released!!!
Im in Xubuntu now, because of Unity. I really do wonder how hard the Chinese are going to push Linux. I guess it depends on how determined they are to get rid of Windows. Mint honestly might have been a better choice, but they could do worse than Ubuntu really. Overall though, this is a big plus for Linux. If pushed hard, it could even lead to Ubuntu having a larger installed base than Microsoft. Quite the game changer...

I doubt it, Debian is the most conservative distro in existence. You could easily install it though.

You can install Cinnamon too, but you have to add the repos first.

Is Unity that fucktarded circa 1995 looking button strip that shows up on the left side of Ubuntu?
I thought Ubuntu was an African tribal language. #-o
(edit) Sorry. Must be the fried chicken.
Ubuntu's easier to pronounce than Rinux.

Unfortunately, yes. Its easy to get rid of though.
Doesn't surprise me. Even North Korea has gone over to Linux.
