Title: Vertebrate species decline by 52% in 40 years
Post by: PopeyesPappy on October 03, 2014, 11:21:15 AM
Wow! According to recent report published by the WWF the population of vertebrates declined by more than 50% between 1970 and 2010. In less than two human generations we have killed off half of our closest cousins.

Native Americans learned the hard way millions of years ago what happens when you destroy the animals and plants your life depends on, and why they had a word for ecology then. Solitary

The amphibian decline (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decline_in_amphibian_populations) is particularly shocking, considering that amphibian declines usually coincide with serious environmental problems.

Jeez!  I didn't think it was quite that bad.  That's practically an ELE in progress.  Well, so long and thanks for all the fish.

Unfortunately true. the species we think of as disgusting like rays, jellyfish and eels are flourishing because of climate change, invasive species are becoming more invasive, and the rhino and elephant have been nearly hunted into extinction. human stupidity at the base of most, if not all of it.
