On Monday, a 9-year-old little girl tragically shot and killed her shooting instructor with an Uzi at an Arizona gun range. And so now we have a dead instructor and a child scarred for life. This event has left many people questioning why a child would ever be handed a loaded weapon in the first place. I mean, is there really a reason that any child under the age of 18 should be playing with an Uzi??We don’t allow children to drive cars or drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes, so why would we allow a child to handle a loaded gun?

Well apparently we don’t have to wonder about this any longer because the NRA has explained the answer. According to the NRA the reason that we should put our children’s lives in danger is so that they can have fun. Yes, you read that right. The NRA thinks it’s just fine and dandy to place a loaded gun into the hands of a child because it’s all in the name of good fun.

Just two short days after this tragedy in Arizona, the NRA put out a tweet with an attached article that listed all the ways that children can have fun at a gun range. The tweet said, “7 Ways Children Can Have Fun At The Shooting Range.” The tweet has since been removed, but thanks to the Huffington Post, the tweet was saved with a screen capture.

The article that was linked in the tweet was from a publication called Women’s Outdoor News. The article basically says that children really need to be constantly entertained while they are shooting their guns at the range, otherwise they will become “bored.”

“When children begin shooting, traditional bull’s-eye targets are perfect for working on safety skills. They’re also good for zeroing your rifle before hunting or competitions. However, if children continually shoot the same bull’s-eye target, they can become tired, exhausted or bored. As the boredom sets in, the effort that goes into shooting can deteriorate. In our case we have youth competitors, i.e. LG and friends, who train on a regular basis. Sometimes they want, or rather need, to have fun at the range. That’s when it’s time to introduce other types of targets to change things up, so children can have fun on the range.”

Now I don’t know about you, but my idea of childhood fun does NOT include games where someone could literally be killed. This gun range where the tragic Uzi shooting occurred allowed children as young as 8-years-old to shoot. After the accident they said they will be raising the minimum age all the way up to 12.

But hey, don’t worry about the child who killed her shooting instructor with an Uzi. The owner of the range has been all over TV talking about the situation. He said that he has started a prayer circle going for her to help.
Well, you know what else would help? NOT GIVING A CHILD A FUCKING UZI!!!!!!!!

Didn't we already have an article like this?

Any way the dude was fucking stupid. Plenty of guns are much easier for kids to handle, like those Cricket rifles. Sure, it's still dangerous; but it would be less of a mistake.

It seems like every time a serious gun accident or mass shooting that gets publicized by the press, the NRA proposes the same solution.  "There should be more guns and more people shooting them."
