Anyone from South Africa that knows anything more about this? From internationally known Olympic hero to murder suspect in less than 6 months. WTF?

Never heard of him. I think this was on the radio today, though.

He was a pretty big focus during the track & field coverage, and before the games when he was trying to get the decision to disqualify him from competing overturned. The US tv coverage focused on him as much as any non-US athlete during the games.

I can imagine there being a bit of a controversy. It might be the first step to actually allowing technology to influence sports more, which would be an interesting thing.

They basically came to the conclusion that those blade legs weren't an advantage over having real legs. I for one am excited for the 2036 cyborg & bionic olympics.

His girlfriend was hot...you are not supposed to shoot hot chicks.

He was a national hero and prominent figure because of the Olympics. If he goes to prison, it won't be without some very serious proof to convict him.

Plus, the guy's a double amputee. He can easily sob-story his way into a lighter sentence, I'm sure. :(

I doubt that.  Prosecution against him only needs to point out how well he's competed against non-amputees.  Clearly he can hold his own.

Such a sadness.  I'd read his story awhile back and generally find people who not only overcome their adversities inspirational but when they go forward to work towards such excellence - Wow.  Just wow.
That is darkly shadowed, however, if they have some crazy need to shoot their loved ones. wtf?
