Title: Any of you compete in or train in any sport?
Post by: Primal on April 19, 2023, 03:58:35 AM
I'm training for Judo right now. Currently a white belt. I've been powerlifting for quite a while and it's all I've ever done back then. I'm back at it, but not full-throttle.

I suck at ball games in general. And even if I wanted to train for it, exactly where? lol

I find most sports to be kind of boring, so I don't watch them on TV. I like some of the Olympic games, especially the track and field events. But I don't compete in any sports, unless you count chess as a sport. I played some sports in highschool, but that was a long time ago.

Sports on TV are always boring. But highlights in sports caught on YouTube, especially a compilation of them, are a pleasure to watch.

Ball games are still boring even with their highlights though. At least for me. But seeing Olympic lifters break new world records and have the crowd go wild and the commentators go nuts? Ecstasy. Knockout reels in MMA? Ecstasy. And honestly, any Mike Tyson fight is very entertaining.

Friend of mine got me into armwrestling for a while.
DidnĀ“t have enough free time and willpower to train enough, though.

Still an interesting little sport.
Still keep up with his channel, too.

I like watching BattleBots. People only get their egos hurt rather than their bodies. 🦾

In Basic Training (Army) I achieved Expert with the M14 (shows how long ago that was!) and later with the M16.  But I was always very curious about the .50 cal heavy machine gun.  In the regular Army I did not get a chance to even get any training with it at all.  Years after I was discharged, I enlisted into the local National Guard unit, which was a Light Infinitary  unit whose main method of transport was the M113 personnel carrier.  Three of the had twin mounted .50 cals.  I was allowed to get many rounds of familiarization fire.  I was impressed!!

I learned Maw Deuce when I was in high school. One legged Marine retired near me and I shoveled his horse stalls in exchange for trigger time. (He got all the .50 by the box, courtesy of the USMC. (He was the guy officers saluted first.))

If drinking beer was a sport I'd be an Olympic champion... 😺
