Hello.
I am a thirty-one year old man who discovered his life's calling when he was twenty-six. Life hasn't been easy for me, but I found a sense of peace through philosophy and learning. Philosophy is my passion.
And of course I am not a theist. I'm an agnostic.
I believe that the true god of this world is the human brain, that one internal organ with the ability to create and destroy practically anything. I am thankful to Mother Nature for giving me such an amazing tool.
Thanks.
Welcome! How far have you progressed in your education? BS, MS, PhD?

I am embarrassed to admit that I am a two-time college dropout. But my philosophy professor told me I have more than enough potential to take philosophy all the way to a PhD.
Life doesn't permit me to keep focusing on education though. Duty calls.
I believe every human being in this world is a philosopher. Even for a pathetic college dropout like myself. I love philosophy more than anything.
There are many different branches of philosophy. Which are you most interested in?

Ethics. I want to someday create a system of beliefs that help people become winners in life, despite setbacks and disabilities. Stoicism greatly appeals to me.
I also am intrigued with metaphysics and alchemy, but it's the least of my priorities. It feels pseudo-scientific-y. It's fun to think about though.
Hi there.
Looking forward to reading your content.
Philosophy, imo, has become its own religion in that the latter philosophers tend to agree with the religious that humanity is an altogether different being than the common animal. Elevating humanity to the concept they are a universal presence but the rest of the animal world is not. There is no evidence that suggests humanity is better than the hunt and kill animals. Man will cross mountains to kill other humans for nothing more than land no one really wants. Animals don't do that. Adult humans are racist, their children are not.
There are hundreds of examples where animals whose behavior is considered evolutionary can be raised with their "enemies" to be quite friendly and caring for each other. The idea that a Cheetah will chase down and kill a gazelle is only if it is taught to do so. Cheetah will chase as is their nature but they have to be taught to kill. Just like humans.
Humans are not above our fellow creatures in morality, we are more successful in finding new ways to kill for "fun". Animals have no such desire. Animals are better morality wise than humans are. We simply use a lot of four and five syllable words to suggest we are superior because we developed four and five syllable words. Meh.
^ That's it in a nutshell.
Preach bro! 🖖
"No philosopher ever came out of a debate with more than he went in with."

Quite a lot of animals kill for fun, actually. Sometimes they'll torture and kill their own, for no reason except entertainment. Orcas, for example, frequently enjoy launching seals as far out of the water as they can. Hell, even slavery isn't unique to humans. Some ants take the larva from other colonies and force them to work for them. People have a tendency to idolize nature, but nature is bloody and cruel.

As god intended.
Welcome, primal, to our little band of heathens.
