Title: My thoughts on Family Guy on The CW
Post by: nuclear on December 14, 2022, 10:54:32 PM
The censorship of the show on The CW is pretty weird (they kept all the gore uncut, but they censored a few of the cuss words; they actually did allow the word "pussy" to be said uncensored. Wow, how were they able to get away with that on over-the-air TV?

I don't ever recall ever seeing this sort of gore and profanity on rabbit ears TV when I was a little kid in the early-to-mid 2000s.

Well, it does come on at 11 PM - 12 AM CST, so that might explain it? I don't know.

What's your thoughts on this? How is saying "fuck" censored, but head decapitation is completely uncut?

My guess is that the religious don't like profanity but love physical violence (read the bible and you'll know why).  Physical violence has never been censored, but profanity and sex have almost always been.

Do you mean physical violence never being censored on TV? Because I seen them censor some violence from Dr. Giggles (it was on a different over-the-air channel ThisTV, not The CW).

But The CW allowed Family Guy to say the word "pussy" uncensored, which is the first time I've ever heard the word "pussy" uncensored on over-the-air TV.

I recall hearing the word "pussy" several times on a British sit-com called "Are You Being Served." The character was talking about her cat, but that was seldom obvious.
