I still read cyanide and happyness. It occasionally still gets q chuckle out of me.
I read whomp!, which was quite good, but it went on hiatus. The author isn't doing well mentally it seems.
I liked sandra and woo, but it stopped now too. Also, honestly, it declined over time. Or i partially outgrew it.
Still fond of the league of superredundant heroes. And between failures.
My newspaper days are over, hence most of my comic reading, as well. when Calvin and Hobbs and the Far Side stopped my comic reading did not fully recover. Still enjoyed Pickles and Boondocks and a few others--just fell out of the habit of reading them.

You're missing out.

Goblins is a web comic based on D&D. It mainly follows two parties of characters: The standard group of adventurers of mixed races and classes, and a party of goblins who decided to become player characters after they got sick of adventurers always raiding their camps, killing them, and stealing their stuff.
It's plot focused, dramatic, but also has a strong focus on humor. The characters are self-aware that they exist in a D&D game, aware of the rules and mechanics, but they still treat the world around them as real. Basically, everyone is Deadpool.
The quality of the art has improved a lot over the years. The most painful thing, though, is having to wait for new pages. It can take a while for a new page to get drawn, colored, and shaded. But as new readers, it will take a while to catch up.
That comic is brutal AF. It's good, but man, is it an emotional rollercoaster.
The most painful thing about waiting for new pages is that your favorite character might be at -9 hp (a hair away from death) for a while or a bad guy might be on the verge of winning/losing.
I'm holding off until that Frank Horrigan-looking heavily-armored Dwarf psychopath gets what's coming to him.

That dwarf has been around since pretty much the beginning. Feels like final boss material to me. I wonder when we'll get his backstory, and the reason he hates monsters so much.
A comic I used to like is Sinfest. It's been over a decade since I've read it, though. Looks like his art style and methods have changed. I suspect he's become a CAD. Too bad. The earlier work looks kind like Bill Waterson.

Do yourself a huge favor and stop there. Trust me on this. Cherish the good times, the before times.
The childlike drawing just adds to the vibe.
