Title: Robert Sapolsky: Science of Stress, Testosterone & Free Will
Post by: drunkenshoe on June 03, 2022, 02:02:47 PM

Haven't finished it yet, but fascinating as usual.

Especially the relation between testosterone and aggression is something everyone should listen, I guess. E: Because I think most people think there is some sort of direct relation, lol.  He also has talked about this in a public thing a few (maybe more, not sure) years ago as an answer to a listener who assumed testosterone creates aggression.

E: LOL Q: "Do we have free will?" RS: "...Not a shred..." But he explains it good, it's not that depressing.

Talking about the neurochemical activities and their effect on behavior;

People assume themselves as they are, and assume that their possible reactions towards a vast variety of possible situations in everyday life are somewhat because of their personality traits,

but it depends in that if someone is on antidepressant treatment, or say, under alcohol influence; their reactions, whether emotionally or physically(heartbeat for ex.), vary in intensity and diversity.

Me is always me, but what makes me me is my reactions towards situations and they kind of differ according to my neurochemistry, and neurochemistry is open to influence from outside, with drugs for ex.
