Title: 2022 Site Renewal
Post by: Naru on March 09, 2022, 06:06:33 PM
Hello Team,

Just want to announce that I have made another 12-month payment for the site. We are good until March 1st, 2023.

For next year, I still like to get someone else to take over the site as I don't want to just shut her down. If anyone is interested, please DM me. If we don't get anyone, I will be putting up a donation link to help pay for the site.

Hosting Plan -  $145
Website Security Basic  - $95
Domain - $20

Any help in the future will be great.
Thanks,

Just holler a month or so in advance so I can finagle the money. (Not a stress, just moving things around to have that available for cashing.)

Thanks Naru, as Zilla said, we got lots or rich people here......no reason for you to go out of pocket.
I thought we had a donation site set up, but perhaps it got lost.
I can reimburse the entire amount, just let me know how. Make it easy....I ain't the schmartest with the inter netty shenanigans...

No need to worry about this year as I had the cash. The next renewal is what I will be asking for help with.

As I have said in the past, no reason for any one person to carry the load. AND I am sure many here would agree a little extra cash for the person who does the upkeep should be damn near a rule, and an incentive, albeit not a money maker, to at least keep a person interested in the maintaining of the site.

Consider if just 10 of us can put in 40 bucks over the course of a year, the admin can at the very least get a couple nice meals out of all the work they do. I would actually opt for more, but understand some simply can't do that.

Anybody want to chime in on some ideas?

All we need is a donation link or some way to transfer the money to Naru.  I'll be happy to kick in.

I did it once, then stopped due to building our house.

I generally have a rule not to spend money online on websites, patreons and the like.

But i´ll make an exception for this place.
This place is home.

(Can´t spare 40 though.)

If I remember, back then I could only make it work through paypal?

Even past the monetary weight-- maintaining the site is a chore, to say the least.
It's easy when you have moderators and admins on here, but for myself at least, I have a lot of life happening. I'm barely on. Naru and Wolf are also not as active as they'd like to be.

Moderating is one thing. Keeping everything functioning is another. It's not hard to do, it's just time being on the site and watching for if something needs updating or revising. When I was active it was easy to do, but now that I have other things going on, it's an extra activity to hop on here, make sure everyone is getting along, and also to make sure nothing broke. I can imagine it's similar for the other admins.

It would be great for someone to step in and take over, because it would be a shame to lose what was a great community.

...And for the record, Wolf and Naru asked me if I'd like to take the site over, which I considered. I was hoping my life would free up some time. However, it looks like I'm not going to be able to swing it. Even though I can afford it, especially considering member donations, I can't afford the time.
