Was a close friend or family member a Christian and mean to you?  :P

I'm pretty surprised by how much current shouting matches are affected by past negative experiences.  I confess that I would otherwise have a favorable view of vegans and poth...marijuana enthusiasts.

Nope--the only close family member that is christian is my little brother.  He has not done anything to personally harm me--but he is a trumpie--that's harm enough.  Personally, I've had many, many good contacts and interactions with christians.  I base my disdain on the christian world due to it's dark history and utter dishonesty of it's leadership.

The intro with Mr. Cloud & Mr. Sun is a small tale about intentions. Where the first approach, blowing wind at the man with the overcoat, gets the man to huddle up and protect himself. While Mr. Sun's approach, being a sun, is using "niceties" to get the man to throw his overcoat - or it's just two figures making a bet.

Two figures making a bet.  See Book of Job.

You know what, weirdly enough I never had a family member at the opposite side of the political spectrum. I always get curious when people talk about this. But then thinking now, I don't know any religious people either. One that comes to mind (she is a muslim) doesn't follow the traditional aspects of the religion.

My mother was not a dictator; one always knew what she thought about things--personal and political--but she never rejected one for it, or insist one accept her thoughts.  She would not associate with you if she thought one was basically dishonest or mean spirited.  But if she were alive and knew what the politics of my little brother is, she would tell him in no uncertain terms he would no longer be welcome in her home.

You lived a sheltered life of a Turkish exile under the glass pyramid at the Louvre? (scene from end of Wonder Woman).

Remember, Christians want the world to end so their Jesus will come and save them. I think that's why they like Trump so much, they think he will end the world.

Crazy, yes?  Commies want to save the world, so they can lead happy lives as commissars.

If we are talking about racism; racist policies, she was principled (and tough). There are religious people with the same set of principles. And if we think about it, it is the one fundamental principle people shouldn't compromise. Do we know anything worse than racism? It's the source of everything else.

Honestly, I have no idea what would I do if I had kids and one turned up supporting right wing racist policies. But then, to make a generalisation, mostly those people do not accept this is the case.

Westerners need to learn to see beyond the politics imposed in and out; the real life in muslim countries to have a healthy opinion about the reality of the world.

There is no racism (except to Trots).  There is tribal warfare.  Let the tribal warfare do its thing, to get rid of billions of useless mouths.

I do know what I would do if my Ex was more liberal than me, my daughter was more liberal than me.  I love them in spite of that.

Stalin was right, Hitler was wrong.  There is correct dictatorship, you just need to go to Moscow to find it, not Berlin.

Agreed.  Non-judgmental anthropology is my thing.  I just don't like my own people (why I am Left).  I would never judge Turkish people like I judge Americans.
